    Results time frame.

ETS says it takes 15 BUSINESS days to post results on the web site. Is this followed strictly? Do they release results earlier than 15 bus days? Anyone having an idea about this please let me know. I tested on 23rd Sept. Thanks
  2. Size of the company: 350 employees. Revenue: about 60 million annually. Flatness: In my dept 3 levels below me, my supervisor then CTO then CEO. Not for profit : Cooperative Inc. Extra curricular: As i mentioned earlier I am not that active in extra curricular/ community activities (not impressive to claim). Yale: Thanks for the suggestion. From the statistics I found on the website it looked like they are not that much interested in eng graduates and also felt like they need higher verbal scores on GMAT. Will do research on this. I greatly appreciate any more suggestions. Thank you.
  3. Thank you for the reply. I do not work for a consulting firm. I work for a rural telecom company(2nd largest in its category!!! :-) ). Its a small org but I am the project/tech lead for the IT dept. In fact my company is shifting from old tech to new tech. I look after all that from technical side. But what bothers me is my designation. As The company is small we have very flat org structure. What kind of effect this will have on my applications? Right now I am thinking there will be definitely a place in the apps where I can explain this. (Correct me if I am wrong.... ) Also I would like to know if there is any negative effect on my APP with working for a rural - not for profit firm. I do have some avg stuff to show in extra curricular during my college days. Mech Engg Association Pres. Student's committee member, Some public service. Health awareness drives in rural areas. But I don't see much after I started living in USA. I worked for fund raising for cancer patients through my company. Volunteered for company events. Volunteered at a local hospital for few months(on and off). This is the most bothering part of my profile. I would like to apply for schools on the east coast and mid-west because of some personal constraints. I kind of narrowed it to Rochester, Sloan, Cornell, Tepper, Ross, Kelly, Perdue, Darden, Duke, UNC. (I still need to refine this) Pls let me know what you think about this list and my chances. Also let me know if u think I should add/drop any school to/from the list. Thank you
  4. David, Please take time to read this and let me know what you think about my chances in top 20….I am planning to apply for MBA programs this coming season. I request you to look at my profile below and provide me with your ideas. Profile Indian National. Permanent Resident of USA(Green Card) Age : 30 Bachelors in Mech engineering . (University 3rd) Masters in Mech engineering from Indian Institute of Science(IISc) Bangalore India with Outstanding performance grades in projects. (Good academic profile right from high school) 8+ years of IT experience(Technical). 2+ years in India 6+ years in USA GMAT Score : 700 (Q50, V34, AWA 5.5) Nothing great in extra curricular and community activities unless I really make the small small things look big!!. Present: I am a pure technical guy executing IT projects. Work for a small company where there is no growth professionally. Reason for MBA: I don’t want to be a tech person all my life. I see MBA as an option I have right now to give my self a good push to get into the management (not in present company). Areas of Interest: Technology Management/IT Strategy: For the obvious reason that my exp. fits this. Health sector Mgmt: I love health care field. But still need to do more research to understand what this field is like exactly. Questions: My GMAT Score is 700(50/34). Is this good enough? I know for Indians generally this score is considered NOT THE BEST. But I want to know how it will play if we plug in the permanent residency into the equation. Will this have any effect? What kind of impact my AGE(30) is going to have? Not much involvement in extra curricular / community programs. What will be the effect of this?I am considering the Cornell’s 12 month program. Any ideas/thoughts about this program? Thanks

  6. Thank you all for your responses. I am still evaluating my options at this time. But anyway scheduled for GMAT next month. Thanks.
  7. I think the next couple of years will be the last best time if I want switch gears and change my career path. But I am really in a big state of confusion as to what to do. I request you guys to look at my profile below and provide me with your ideas. Profile Indian National. Permament Resident of USA(Green Card) Age : 29 Bachelors in Mech Engg. Masters in Mech Engg from Indian Institute of Science(IISc) Bangalore India (Good academic profile right from high school) 8 years of IT experience(Technical). 2+ years in India 5+ years in USA Nothing great in exta carricular and community activities Present: I am a pure technical guy executing IT projects. No Complaints with current job. Everything is just great. Only one problem I have is, I will remain a technical guy for ever. Very less chances for doing any new type of work. Reason for MBA: I see this as the only option I have right now to shift my carrer. I had enough with IT. Just want to switch to something totally different. My employer will sponcer me for part time MBA with full tution. But I will have to remain in the same job!!! It doesn't make much sense to me, because this will get me an MBA which will not add any value to me. (Let me know what you think about this option) Areas of Intrest: Health sector Mgmt: I know this is the perfect oppsite thing to my profile. But I really have an intrest in it. Production/Manufacturing: I can add some value here, as I always loved them in college. Technology Management: For the obvious reason that my exp. fits this. Questions: 1. Is it a good idea to consider this shift now? 2. Any other fields I fit into? 3. Full time MBA Vs Part time MBA. Which one is better? 4. How are the above fields doing now? 5. What GMAT score I should target for? I think I can score around 680 6. Which schools are best for the fields of my intrest. Thanks in Advance.
  8. can anyone pls clarify this a little bit more? thx.
  9. Actually this type of problem is mentioned in Kaplan book. In Appendix Math Review at the end(100 points). I don't know the exact point number. But you have to draw a table and solve this type. Table makes it easy.....
  10. Got little confused earlier with 3r+2 = 3. i think it needs to be 3r+2 = s Correct me if i am worong. Thanks

    tse rescoring

Hi nagireddynr vbmenu_register("postmenu_115998", true); , When you apply for re-scoring... 1. If ETS gives you a new score, meaning less or more than your initial score, Your old score will be cancelled and new score will be counted. They will mail you and all the institutes you mentioned in the ticket at exam center, a copy of your new score. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE OLD SCORE IF YOUR SCORE IS LESS AFTER RESCORING. ONLY NEW SCORE WILL BE COUNTED. 2. However if there is no change in your score, ETS reserves the right not to send your score report after rescoring. Meaning .... There is a potential chance that you will not hear from ETS after rescoring your tape(Only if there is no change in ur score).

    ESL Classes

Knok & Rose4U, Thankyou for the info. Let me explain my problem. I took TSE on Jan 15th. Got 45. Well, my english is not bad. I have the average indian english. I answered pretty good in Jan 15th exam. I mean, timing, content, no pauses etc. But when I try to look back and correct myself, I think pronunciation is killing me. I took the demo test on ORDINATE few times, I consistently score less in fluency and pronunciation. A paper on Ordinate shows mapping between demo test(SET10) and TSE. The demo test score range is 20 to 80. If you score 80 in Ordinate tests that is equivalent to 55 in TSE. I need TSE score of 55. So, I am sure, I need to sound better. BUT HOW????? I am taking TSE in April again. I know I cannot completely change my accent, but need to push it as much as I can. So if you guys can give me some ideas on this, it will be great. Will public speaking class help??? I am already in school and everyone seems to understand me well. In previous sem, I took professional communications, thinking may be it will help me. But that was the worst class I ever took. What scares me is I do not have any game plan, that I am sure will work, for next TSE. I know lot of guys on this forum got 45.... What are your plans for next TSE??? I am just trying to see if your approaches can show me some light at the end of this tunnel. This is a long reply... Thanks for reading.

Did anyone take the ESL classes at any university/college? Will taking ESL classes help in improving pronounciation? Is it worth the money we have to pay for it..... Please reply if any of you have any small info on this.

    very important

Yes, I guess calling cutomer service may be a good idea. But do not give up once they give you a negative answer. Try to explain them the best you can. In the end, you can tell them you want to talk with the customer service supervisor. Good luck.

    very important

I searched on the ETS web site to see how to log a case. But no clue. The only way, I guess you can do something about it is asking for rescoring your tape. The instructions for re-scoring are present in the 2004-05 TSE bulletin. Download the TSE bulletin from ETS website from URL: http://www.ets.org/tse/bulletin.html#bulletin On Page 15 you will see clear instructions on how to request to re-score your tape. Hope this helps.

    very important

Hi Kenny, I strongly believe one of the following might have happened. May be the answers you gave sounded like pre-prepared. The possibile chances of this are very remote unless you knew the questions on the exam before you went to the exam. The people who rated you might have not rated you right. Assuming ETS follows the procedure of comparing the scores given by 2 raters and then giving your tape to a thrid rater.... to me the chances for this are also less. Last thing I suspect is the recording media you used on the day of exam might be faulty. What ever you think the reason might be, it is better to see if there is any way for logging a complaint with ETS. May be KNOK will be able to give you some pointers on this. Simple reason..... 30 means you did not communicate at all(pretty much) I do not know if I was of any help but I guess something seriously went wrong. You somehow have to find out what was that... First of all try logging a case with ETS.
  19. I guess you appeared for Jan 15th... What happened?
