Hi muaxuan Your score is great. Congratulations!!! :p

Adverb or Adjective? A thunderhead, dense clouds that rise..
ttaann replied to iguh_budi's topic in TOEFL Grammar
Hi iguh_budi, This isn't from Barron's at all but ETS TOEFL CBT. Barron's is just trying to exploit the cut-and-paste technique. This is a tricky one. I myself did this wrong too. The key as iguh_budi said is D -
Hi tuong, You don't mention which country this office belongs to, the U.S. or Britain. It's very an important matter to consider. Tan.
-
Hi all, That's the point. :p You know many crazy words have been popping up in the grammar part. So keeping on deducing always pays off. Tan. [bounce]

Hi all, IMHO this question isn't as difficult as you might think. The correct answer is: One of the world's best-selling authors, Louis L'Ampur issaid to have written 101 books, mostly western. All in all IMHO this isn't not standard at all. Could you ERIN [tm] help me with this confusion?
-
The correct answer is C. Why? Because of the red word: ....first electric lamp had.... Tan.
-
[The first] electric lamp had two carbon rods from [which] vapor [serves] [to conduct] the current across the gap. ETS.

Hi tuong Are you sure that you posted this question without typos?
-
Hi tuong, That's very kind of you to post them here. I love this kind so much. [heartbeat] Thanks a lot. Tan. [bounce]

Thanks a million, ERIN. [tm] What about D? I think it's OK too. ?
-
W1: Don't you think it's strange that we haven't started receiving any mail yet? W2: Well, sometimes it takes awhile for the post office to forward it. I'm sure it'll come soon. Q : What can be inferred about the speakers? (A) They don't usually get much mail. (B) They just moved to a new address. © They pick up their mail at the post office. (D) They are looking forward to receiving the letter ETS.

To muaxuan: You've left me nothing for repair. ;) Well done!!! [^] To wall: Oh it's very generous of you to post them here. If possible could you leave some notes about the sources of those questions.
-
Hi muaxuan Yes, it's very very odd. But to score high we should be accustomed to oddity.
-
Hi all First off I doubt the authenticity of this question. ? BTW, could you tell me where you found this? "Complement" and "compliment" are one pair of tricky words. Though they have similar spellings their meanings are completely different. The same for "complementary" and "complimentary"

Hi hoang_luong, It is because IELTS reading is often taken from authentic professional sources, while TOEFL reading is usually adapted about the length of the passage, the use of words and sentences. JMT. Tan.

Hi all This is exactly called "absolute phrase". Please search for it. You'll know the answer immediately as soon as you understand what "absolute phrase" is. Tan. [bounce]

Trust in all toefl reading resources ???
ttaann replied to vertical_horizon's topic in TOEFL Reading
Hi hoang_luong, :) Actually the reading part is not that tough. Just be careful and slow to knock them all out to get 50/50. ;) Tan. [bounce] -
Hi hoang_luong, Great tips for reading. But do you think that these hints would be applicable for TOEFL or IELTS? ;)
-
Hi vvaann, Nope. It's unused and unnatural. JMT. [bounce]

Thanks ERIN for your kool sites. I've just checked them. BTW one reason that makes me stick to The Economist is that my translation exams often contain articles from that awesome
