  1. I got into Rensslaer MS .. No funding though... I had applied for Microelectronics... @fedup: When did you hear from UCLA?? I have applied for MS (Analog and Rf ) and havent received any deciison yet.. I am still waiting for EE PhD decisions from UMich - I contacted the gradsec and they say the decisions will be out in the last week of March or early April.. I havent yet heard from GaTech and Purdue (both for PhD in Microelctronics/ VLSI related areas)...
  2. Hmmm... I think they still have admits left, since I have not seen any new decisions being posted on thegradcafe.com or yuster.com. Also, I saw very few MS decisions from Stanford uptil now... Though they said that decisions will be out by the week of 11th March, I feel that they will take more time... If they give all decisions in this week ,it menas just two more days.. This seems unlikely since there havent been any news on any site about Stanford admits in the last week.. (They did give some admits in March first week).. Lets hope for the best!!!
  3. Yeah, lets hope we all get positive replies and admits!!! Best of luck to all once again!!!
  4. I am still waiting for decisions from UMich and Purdue for PhD.. The rest of the guys from my school who applied for UMich, all got a reject in the last week of Feb.. I emailed the grad secretary and received a reply that the decisions would be made by end of March... Purdue email said that decisions would be out before March 15th .. I had sent all my applciaitons inthe last week of November.. My status till now: Waiting for replies from-- Stanford (PhD) University of Michigan Ann arbor (PhD) Georgia Tech (PhD) Purdue (PhD) UCLA(MS) Penn State (MS) Rensselaer (MS) Columbia (MS) NCSU (MS) Rejects: University of Washington, Seattle (MS)
  5. I am also waiting for Stanford. They would be making the decisions by the week of 11th March, which means that they would still be giving admits this week and would give all the rejects at the end of the week (going by last year's trend!!) Best of luck everyone!!!
  6. Hi walrus8u: Thanks for the comforting words... Even I had tonnes of research experience and have 3 IEEE publications and I had written a good essay indicating my interest in working with a few profs.. Looks like its oneof those schools that don't care for MS applicants... Best of Luck to you for your other applications...
  7. I completely agree with agretaker on that.. Get as much research experience adn exposure as possible.. It will ensure that your appplication will be differentiated from the rest... In addition, your recommmenders wil be able to talk about your research potential in their recommendation letters if you are involved in a research project with them.. Thus, your LORs will be stronger... Conference publications will help a lot, journals are even better (though they would take a LOT of time and LOTs of work!!)
  8. Hi to all, I just got notification of reject from University of Washington, Seattle... I had applied for Masters in Electrical Engineering. Waiting for replies from-- Stanford (PhD) University of Michigan Ann arbor (PhD) Georgia Tech (PhD) Purdue (PhD) UCLA(MS) Penn State (MS) Rensselaer (MS) Columbia (MS) NCSU (MS)
  9. FedUp: Congratulations on your UMich and Columbia admits... Great !!! I too have applied for UMich EE PhD.. Waiting for their reply...
  10. Most universities mention on their webpages/online applications about what to do if you dont have a GPA on 4 point scale.. (for non American schools).. In fact, most grad schools advise NOT to convert percentage into GPA. They will do that themselves adn the percentages are on your officla transcritps.. For universities that insist on a conversion to 4 pt GPA (from the applicant's side) also mention the oraganisations etc whose services may be used for GPA conversion (but very few ask for this) I suggest that you should not convert percentage into GPA yourself (if the university is not asking compulsorily for a GPA)
  11. Hi to all, I recentl ydecided to apply to Stanford EE. The department deadline is Dec 12. The website mentions that all documents including GRE and TOEFL scores must rach the GRad office before this deadline... I faxed them the GRE and TOEFL scores on Nov 11.(I think I should have requested by phone)... Do you think that the scores would reach Stanford by that time??? Regards, Pheonix
  12. Recently, a third paper of mine got accepted at IEEE international VLSi design conference (it is a good conference) to be held in Jan 2007. So I have now 3 publications (2 international IEEE conference)... I am also currently writing a journal paper.. Does my chance at getting admitted to MIt or UC berkely still remain not-so-good???
  13. I would much prefer if you could comment about my chances at these places as welll.. I know that there are a few guys from TM who made it to UC berkeley and Stanford EE for Fall 2006.. I hope that I receive some help from them and guidance about my chances fro others as well.. I am a douubtful about UC Berkely because the acceptance rate is really low.. esp. for Internationals (heard from someone that the rate is lower than even MIT EECS).. Stanfors on the other hand, admits more students.... The research at Berkeley though is more interesting to me....
