  7. Do you agree with the following statement? Teachers should make learning enjoyable and fun for their students Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion. Many people believe that learning should be done in a serious and quite envirnoment. However, I believe that teachers should make the learning enjoyable and fun for their students for the following reasons. First reson for supporting the argument is that it is human nature that the thing which interests is easily grasped. For the students to grasp a thing easliy and quickly the teachers should create a congenial environment for that. By congenial environment I mean a fun loving atmosphere like for example setting puzzles to solve the boring math problems. The second reason for my belief is that the thing which is done practically is not easily forgotten. For exmple to learn history can be quite boring but doing a project report for it can be quite interesting and a good learning experience. Perhaps the best reason for my belief is that practice makes a person perfect . If the teachers make the students do the work practically learning can be more exciting and refreshing. The students have the oppurtunity to do the work there and then its like the an on-the -job training and can be fun. For example to add on to the vocabulary the teachers can make their students play scrabble like this they will have practice to new vocablury and learn a lot. For all the above reasons I believe that the learning should be made fun loving and enjoyable as long as the decorum of the class is being maintained. In such a environment the students learn and interact more with each other.

  9. Hi guys, At last its over aah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sat for my gmat yesterday and made it.I wanted anything above 500 and got 510(q 39, v21). It is sufficient for me to get into the MSA program.I had a long struggle it started on 7th march and ended 27th july. Before this I sat for the test on 18th june I only think that was not my day coz I landed up with only 420(q 35 v13).I got little panicy last time. I knew that it was not my score not the one I deserved no the one my hard work deserves. But forget it .This time I had a more focused approach. I worked on my rc which I know improved a lot than last time.I did a lot of quant from Kaplan, og (3times).i think it was OG that helped me throughout. Now let me share my experience with u:::::::::::::::::: QUANT::::::::: First 5 probs were okay types but after that the probs became tougher and tougher I got 4 probability ques, 3 coordinate geo but there was no SD this time.I got a lot of percent problems this time which I had practiced a lot.DS questions testing the rules of integers etc. But my overall experience for quant was okay. VERBAL:::::::::::: After getting tough prob in maths I thought that I have bombed the maths section but I decided not to give as I did the last time.In the break after the quant section I went to restroom and standing in front of the mirror I gave promised myself not to backout come what may.first questions were 3 scs and then one rc which was okay.I got 4rcs one 80 liner , two 45 liners and one 60 liner. As I said earlier my verbal is weak I must have got very easy ques so I thought that I have done good in verbal but it was a diff case. Anyways I got It and now its over . I will no more have sleepless nights and stuff.a gr8 burden has been lifted off. Stuff which did was for verbal sahil’s notes, spideys notesa lot of og , 1000sc ques .1000 cr ques and rc Quant was mainly I concentrated on Kaplan and og But I think that it is only and only ur endurance and balance of mind which takes u thru this difficult test. This is my personal experience. Thanku Erin for creating such a gr8 forum and thanku all u guys there vale_dude,karamholic , mbapro and all those whose posts I have been reding and getting encouraged. divya

  15. At one time, European and Japanese companies tried to imitate their American rivals. Today, American appliance manufacturers import European scientists to lead their research staffs; American automakers design cars that mimic the styling of German, Italian, and French imports; and American electronics firms boast in their advertising of “Japanese-style” devotion to quality and reliability. In the world of high technology, America has lost the battle for international prestige. 16. . Low-income families are often unable to afford as much child care as they need. One government program would award low-income families a refund on the income taxes they pay of as much as $1,000 for each child under age four. This program would make it possible for all low-income families with children under age four to obtain more child care than they otherwise would have been able to afford. Which of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the claim that the program would make it possible for all low-income families to obtain more child care? (A) The average family with children under age four ‍spends more than $1,000 a year on child care. (B) Some low-income families in which one of the ‍parents is usually available to care for chil- ‍dren under age four may not want to spend ‍their income tax refund on child care. © The reduction in government revenues stem- ‍ming from the income tax refund will necessi- ‍tate cuts in other government programs, such ‍as grants for higher education. (D) Many low-income families with children under ‍age four do not pay any income taxes ‍because their total income is too low to be ‍subject to such taxes. Which of the following conclusions is best supported by the information above? (A) The number of people for whom seeing an ‍excerpt of a book in a magazine provides an ‍adequate substitute for reading the whole ‍book is smaller than the number for whom ‍the excerpt stimulates a desire to read the book. (B) Because the financial advantage of excerpting a ‍new book in a magazine usually accrues to ‍the book's publisher, magazine editors are ‍unwilling to publish excerpts from new books. © In calculating the total number of copies that a book has sold, publishers include sales of copies of magazines that featured an excerpt of the book. 23. Woodrow Wilson was referring to the liberal idea of the economic market when he said that the free enterprise system is the most efficient economic system. Maximum freedom means (5) maximum productiveness; our "openness" is to be the measure of our stability. Fascination with this ideal has made Americans defy the "Old World" categories of settled possessiveness versus unsettling deprivation, the cupidity of retention (10) versus the cupidity of seizure, a "status quo" defended or attacked. The United States, it was believed, had no status quo ante. Our only "sta- tion" was the turning of a stationary wheel, spin- ning faster and faster. We did not base our (15) system on property but opportunity---which meant we based it not on stability but on mobil- ity. The more things changed, that is, the more rapidly the wheel turned, the steadier we would be. The conventional picture of class politics is (20) composed of the Haves, who want a stability to keep what they have, and the Have-Nots, who want a touch of instability and change in which to scramble for the things they have not. But Americans imagined a condition in which spec- (25) ulators, self-makers, runners are always using the new opportunities given by our land. These eco- nomic leaders (front-runners) would thus he mainly agents of change. The nonstarters were considered the ones who wanted stability, a (30) strong referee to give them some position in the race, a regulative hand to calm manic specula- tion; an authority that can call things to a halt, begin things again from compensatorily stag- gered "starting lines." (35) "Reform" in America has been sterile because it can imagine no change except through the extension of this metaphor of a race, wider inclu- sion of competitors, "a piece of the action," as it were, for the disenfranchised. There is no (40) attempt to call off the race. Since our only sta- bility is change, America seems not to honor the quiet work that achieves social interdependence and stability. There is, in our legends, no hero- ism of the office clerk, no stable industrial work (45) force of the people who actually make the system work. There is no pride in being an employee (Wilson asked for a return to the time when everyone was an employer). There has been no boasting about our social workers---they are (50) merely signs of the system's failure, of opportu- nity denied or not taken, of things to be elimi- nated. We have no pride in our growing interdependence, in the fact that our system can serve others, that we are able to help those in (55) need; empty boasts from the past make us ashamed of our present achievements, make us try to forget or deny them, move away from them. There is no honor but in the Wonderland race we must all run, all trying to win, none (60)winning in the end (for there is no end). According to the passage, "Old World" values were based on (A) ability (B) property © family connections (D) guild hierarchies (E) education Oa is B but I marked d 3.
