  1. yes..agree reg ISB as they have increased their seats from last time...its around 500 now i guess...
  2. with 650 you will have to depend on your app(GPA+Essays+extracurriculars). IT guys with less than 680 stand less chance for ISB. Non-IT guys have a better chance with this score given the rest of the application is impressive enough. And the dates for IIMA-PGPX are over. How come you are still applying for that? As far as i can say less than 700 will make it tough for IIMA as seats are quite few(80 i guess)
  3. agree with chimni..decision to retake should largly depend on the schools u are plannig to apply for...but it always feels comfortable to be in 700+...i will suggest that since u are already in the groove so go for the kill after 3-4 weeks...u can certainly then beat ur current score...
  4. thanks karmaholic...your forum name reminded me of something..something which helped me get this score...there is one saying in Geeta which you might also be knowing..it says "karmanevadhikarastey ma phaleshu kadachanam"....thats what i said to myself all through my prep/exam...lets not worry at all about the result but concentrate and do diligently the karma...
  5. congrats Alex...700 is a good score..i also must say though that you looked set to score above that..but 700 is a pretty decent score and should be good enough for any school you are plannig to apply for... your contributions to this forum had been pretty useful to us...thanks for that and best of luck for the road ahead...
  6. smashing score RD...many congratulations....i was expecting nothing less from stalwarts like you...
  7. thanks sg2005... i did finally freeze on ISB, IIM-A and Wharton...
  8. Its full time which i am looking forward to. One of the reason, sg2005, that i am looking for 1 year mba is that 2 years would have been worth had i been having 3-5 years of exp...but with this mammoth(acc to me) 7 years of work ex i donot have to time to wait for another 2 years before i get back to business...because i want to things fast but still properly...thats why i want to know about the best schools for 1 year MBA...i do have certain specific future business plans carved out for myself and not that i am looking for an MBA just to get that elusive degree added in my cv....
  9. Can you people please throw some lite on the best one year executive MBAs around. I am from India as as of now i know two of them which are good in India. One one is the ISB(Hyd) and the other is the PGPX(IIM-Ahmedabad) which is starting from April,2006. But this was about India. I have no idea about the good universities abroad(for one year MBA). I heard that LSB has one year MBA course only for financials. Will truely appreciate someone helping me out here. My pofile: 7 years of IT exp..gmat score: 740.. thx
  10. Here is the link for 1000CR http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26459 I tried uploading the 1000RC doc but somehow could not..but as puchi said earlier, you can get them on scoretop as well. very best of luck to you all future test takers..
  11. GMAT: 740(Q51,V38) Powerprep: 710,740 Kaplan Diag: 640 Kaplan Paper Test: 700 Kaplan CD: 630,550(Nadir), 660,630 Princeton CD Tests: 710,650,640,670 (scoring seems buggy for this s/w but tests are ok) 800score.com: 790,760,790,800,780 Arco: 680(did not care to take the rest 2 as I did not like their verbal questions) crack-gmat diag: 620
  12. Hearty thanks to you all for your comments/wishes. This score has really helped my broaden my horizon when it comes to selecting the list of schools to apply for. Here goes my story My Profile: 28 yeras old Indian, 7 years of diverse work Exp in IT(diverse IT exp!!..yes i can say so as i worked on many diff things) Let me first tell you all why i used the word "redeemed" in this thread's subject. I had appeared for GMAT in January this year and scored 620(Q:46,V:29) then. My sincere prep time then was almost 1 week. I used to then think i was James Bond but i turned out to be close cousin of Joe Blogg;). I was really fired up then to give the test again and redeem myself. So here i am today. Prep Time: 2 months. 1st month was a bit easy one with 2 hours/day. Last 3 weeks:4-5 hours/day Material used: OG+ Princeton Book +Kaplan CD + 1000SC+CR+RC docs + Scoretop Question Sets + forums(testmagic ans scoretop.com) Materials I recommend not wasting time/money worth: Peterson's Arco, Crack-gmat stuff I must tell that I had gone a bit despondent seeing my scores towards the end of my preparation as my hit rate had not improved and I used to silly mistakes in Quant still. In fact I had reduced my target/expected score from 710 to 670 and was ready to live with such a score. But the only way to improve the Quant score is to practice and make a log of all the mistakes one makes during practice sets. Practice was the only difference in my earlier of score of 46 and the latest score of 51. The more types of questions you do the more your mind gets acquainted with them. I had also made it a mandatory part of my question solving to always plug values and verify the answer before moving ahead to the next question. This helped me avoid silly mistakes. As for CR it really matters a lot where you practice from. Apart from OG the only good source of CR pratice questions i found was the 1000CR doc. Practice Tests Scores: Powerprep: 710,740 Kaplan Diag: 640 Kaplan Paper Test: 700 Kaplan CD: 630,550(Nadir), 660,630 Princeton CD Tests: 710,650,640,670 (scoring seems buggy for this s/w but tests are ok) 800score.com: 790,760,790,800(Zenith), 780 Arco: 680(did not care to take the rest 2 as I did not like their verbal questions) crack-gmat diag: 620 GMAT: 740( here I am ) G/D Day exp: Was relaxed and composed. AWA section went cool. Might have to pay royalty to twinsplitter as I had used the template he had posed on the forum;) Then came the real thing. I knew my weakness in Quant was silly mistakes. So I promptly verified all my answers till around 20th Question. In fact for one question I noticed that I had opted the wrong answer just when I was about to press “Next” button;). Was surprised to see pretty easy ones around 16th Q or so. But did not bother to think about how I was doing. The level of questions was a bit above OG but as it is rightly said “Practice makes a man perfect”. It was my lots of practice which helped me ace Quant questions of GMAT are something which are no brain teasers as such. Its only those little tricks which ETS throws. So acc to me, only practice can help one master them. Facing Verbal was like the solving tough questions of OG. Despite controlling myself as much I could I got a bit impatient/nervous in the middle of the Verbal section and lost my concentration a bit. Had it not been for that I could have crossed 40 in verbal. Overall difficulty level of Verbal section was similar to that of OG with the difference that once you start doing well, you get harder CRs. Some of the harder CRs were a bit tougher than OG’s. I faced no problem at all with SC as they were all pretty simple ones. RC was also OG level. I got 4 of them in all. First one was of 90 lines. Rest all, between 45-60 lines. What I think helped me the most : 1) 3 weeks before the test, when I was done with Kaplan, Princeton and most of OG, I was really confused as to what to do next(esp reg CR). So I decided to do two things. I picked up this 1000CR,1000SC and 1000RC docs(This helped improve my hit rate for CR and RC) and used to do at least 20 questions from each of them every morning. And I also redid all sections from Princeton and Kaplan section tests where I had done mistakes. 2) I did SC section of OG thrice. First time to gauge my hit rate. Next two times to understand each and every question (whether I did it right or wrong). A practice from 1000SC over that helped reinforce my SC prep. 3) Attitude matters the most when you prepare yourself to face the battle of nerves called the GMAT. Unlike this time, I had not really bogged myself down thinking about the outcome. I had made up my mind to accept a below 700 score and be ready to give up GMAT again if req. So it was like thinking “nothing to lose”. Nevertheless it was really important for me to go get a good score. And finally, let me say that forums like these are got to be en essential part of any one’s GMAT preparation. The discussions on the forum are of tremendous help especially in orienting your mind towards facing GMAT questions. So that was my story. Will be happy to take any questions, if anyone has any.
  13. feeling delited..had never imagined this score....will write details later...let me take my time out today evening...
  14. A new hair growing drug is being sold for three times the price , per milligram, as the drug makers charges for another product with the same active ingredient A. As B. than C. that D. of what E. at which as far as i can see its between C and D..pls explain ur answers as well...
  15. my choice was E..the OA however said B first i think "for" is mising in B ALso the reason it said E is worng is that in E "it" cannot refer to plural "Regular grooming and defleaing". But then why is "Regular grooming and defleaing" followed by "is" in the question stem itself?..
