  1. They always give you a range, even on the real SAT. It basically means that on a bad day, you'll get on the low end of the range (630), and on a good day, you'll get on the high end of the range (690). They basically take your SAT score and add 30 for the high end of the range and subtract 30 to find the low end of the range. Doesn't mean much.
  2. Jess' Final UC Update!!! Accepted: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego Rejected: UC Los Angeles, UC Berkeley aw..... sadness... well, I didn't expect to get into Berkeley anyway. Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to say "UC Los Angeles"?... I'm more used to saying "UCLA"... and UC Berkeley is "Cal"... UC San Diego is "UCSD"... maybe I'm just being weird...
  3. Well, you're kind of in the wrong forum, as this is for undergrad UC admissions. But I do have to say living in California costs a buttload of money, and it's dman hard to get a place to live. I know you said money isn't the main issue, but I don't know. Just something to think about. I've never been to Michigan or Carnegie Mellon, so I can't say anything about the weather. Sorry! Have you visited all of the universities? Sometimes it's better if you see the schools for yourself to see if you could picture yourself there.
  4. too late. I've had senioritis for ages. I seriously think I'll end up with less than a 3.0 at the end of the semester. My Spanish grade's a C+ and falling. My AP Calc BC grade is at a B+ and rapidly dropping (failed the last five quizzes). I'm not doing well in my other classes either. It all just sucks! What sucks more is that 3/6 of my current classes are AP classes, so we're basically done with learning and chances to up my grades in about a month. AAAAHHHHH!!! College. ew.
  5. Hello! I have a question! UC Irvine's Freshman Contract states that one of the provisions for us to be admitted is that "Your senior-year GPA in UC-approved courses must be at least 3.00." Now, does that mean if I got a 3.3 last semester, I can get a 2.7 this semester and still be admitted? And is this true for ALL the UCs? Just wondering! All I know for sure is that I'm not supposed to get any D's or F's.
  6. haha. I love your disclaimer. I found it hilarious! haha. The whole Caucasian thing doesn't bug me. I don't really care about race when I think about what school I'm going to. But then again, a large percentage of students at UCSD are Asian. 37% is Asian, plus another 5% Filipino. The school's 32% Caucasian. so wow! About the Davis thing, I don't know. Well, Davis and Berkeley are close by, and so is Santa Cruz. Stereotypically Asian parents like having their kids close by. But Santa Cruz has a rep for being a party school. So I'm not sure how happy some parents are about that. And not everyone can get into Berkeley, so I understand why so many people go to Davis. haha. thanks for the congrats. Wash under-represented? are you serious?!?! It's a great school. No way is it under-represented. Under-represented is more... like Mission or Thurgood Marshall... a school with a terrible rep. It's not my thread anymore! ;)
  7. haha. I have my own thread. How fun! haha. I have no idea what my first choice is. Yes, I'd like to get into Cal, but it's so close, and I want to put a bit of distance between my parents and me. I'm not really sure what college is the right one for me, which means I'm going to spend my last high school spring break checking out colleges. How sad. heh. I hate how SI is so... SI. Too many smart kids at school. Too many kids who do the exact same thing. It's rather hard to distinguish myself from the other students. Sadness. So to end this little rant, I have no idea what my first choice is, but I think I'm going to end up at Davis, and I'm not confident in my chances at Berkeley. I don't like getting my hopes up. I think I need to consult more people about my college choices because my parents are rather clueless. They didn't even know that UCSD even existed, and my mom only wanted me to apply to Berkeley, Davis, and LA (and SCU, but that's not a UC). More opinions are always welcome! haha. and thanks for the congrats on UCSD. I didn't think I'd get in.
  8. ACCEPTED at Marshall College in UCSD. But I'm not going because it's too far and my mom only let me apply to humor me. I don't know why I chose Marshall as my first choice college because I had no idea what each college specializes in, but oh well.
  9. Hello Hello! It seems like I'm the only person posting UC Admissions results here! How sad. It's become the Jess Admissions Post Thread! haha. Anyway, I got REJECTED from UCLA, but I don't mind because I wasn't expecting to get in. What bugs me is that people who I thought seemed worthy of getting into UCLA (4.0, high SAT, all the tough classes, sports, volunteering, etc, etc) didn't get in. And the people with less impressive stats did. How sad. Anyway, I got ACCEPTED into UC Davis, and I think I'm going to end up there. UC Santa Cruz has sent out admissions decisions, too. Waiting on: UC Berkeley (not expecting much... and won't be out for another two weeks) UC San Diego (should be out soon....)
  10. UC Santa Barbara: https://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/applicant/index.asp?context=applicant_freshmen
  11. UC Davis: https://sisweb2.ucdavis.edu/owa_service/owa/bwzkugap.P_AccountSetup
  12. People have gotten UCLA acceptance letters for a few days now. I haven't gotten any word from them. I'm getting worried, even though decisions are supposedly not final until the 15th. But it's normal for people to worry, right? argh. College = EVIL.
  13. Congrats on the acceptances! Nope. But it's either the ETS or the ACT people. Thing is, I can't do the science section on the ACT (got a 28, I think...) so it brought my ACT score down. sigh. Oh well. I always knew they couldn't be trusted.
  14. wow. That sucks. I took the SAT in October, and I scored pretty damn low, but it was all my fault (didn't study, was sick), but luckily I had my March SAT scores to fall back on. I feel bad for the about 4000 people whose scores were affected, and I hope something gets done.
  15. Thanks! The thing is, I haven't been hit with the "I got into college!!!" excitement because Irvine is a safety. The letter didn't come with a sense of accomplishment because I didn't spend time wondering whether I'd get in or not. Let's hope I can get the "I got into college!!!" feeling with my other letters.
