  1. I took the GMAT in 2002 and got 630. So I took it again this year and got 700. One of my friends told me that if I gave a differnt address the second time, ETS will not report my old score to the schools. I did give my friends address this year for GMAT, but plan on sing my address on the applications, which is the same as what I used during my first time GMAT. Will giving a diffrerent address the second time for GMAT do the trick?
  2. Has anybody taken this membership for $30. Is it valuable.
  3. OK for the Probabilty, I used a book called "Schaum's Outlines: Introduction to Probability and Statistics." It was excellent book. I never looked for book on Coordinate Geometry but try finding a book by Scahum's Outlines on coordinate geometry. There might be one. I do no remeber the exact words of the COORD GEO questions, but here are 2 Q: Two points are given and you were asked to find what point will be half way between the 2 points. There is question similar to this in [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. A line K is perpendicular to point (x, y). What point when joined to point (X1, Y1) will have the same relationship to line Z. (Line Z was defined by a equation). In DS there was a question about that will the line that is drawn the graph ticket charges for group of people of less than 30 cross the origin. (A) gave the charge for say a group of 15 and 20 (B) said that a standard fee of $15 plus $30/person for the first 10 people and $10/person for additonal people will apply. I feel that since we have not practiced the COORD GEO questions during preparation, it freezes us at the exam. I am not very good at Coord Geo either, but I did look at the 3-4 Q in [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] carefully to understand the concept. What I found most helpful in the exam was to draw the graph, I would plot the points as I am good at estimating and drawing. Another option is look at the math text book of 8th or 9th grader. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
  4. On RC do the Kaplan verbal book RC section over and over again and try doing the ARCO RC book after each time you finish the Kaplan Verbal RC section. I found Kaplan Verbal RC most useful. Also as suggetsed in this forum and the Kaplan book read more articles and journals. For SC, read every post on this form and do the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] 10th Ed SC 3 times analysing the explainations of each question (irrespective of wether you got it right). This form will give you tricks for SC that no book can. Also try reading the PR Grammer Smart book patiently, so that you understand the grammer jargon. The Kaplan Verbal SC is also very helpful and relevent. FOR CR I did not have much problem, I liked both Kaplan Verbal ang PR GMAt book. I did do the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] 10th Ed, CR twice. Also do the SC and CR questions in the following order to learn concepts and see patterns: CR [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] 10th Ed. 5. Hi everyone I finisehd my GMAT today :) I am very happy as I got what i had aimed for. I wanetd to see the number "7". Thank you all for such support and guidence. Here is what I learnt. I started preapring in March, but in between there would be big chunks of time when I would not be able to study. So I put solid study of 4 months. I must have cahnged my mind about the exam date three times. I was thinking of giving the exam on 08/05. But in mid July as I was giving practice tests PR iwas doing miserably 650, 630, 610 and ETS 750 (but that was not correct as I knew most Q's ). My diagnostic tests where no different 630 (KP). So I decide dnot to give the exam on 08/05. Moreover my confidence elevel was way down. Then in July I choose 09/03 as the exam date. But In my mind I prepared for the exam as if it was on 08/05. My biggest difficulty was SC. I read every post on this form in SC and got a hang of the tricks. The books cannot teach you SC the way this forum does. Thanks Erin you are a blessing. I focused on Probability concepts, not problems big time. I did [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] 10th ed 2-3 times, 7th ed one time. I took so many notes that it would just take me 1 week (2-3 hours each day) to just read them. I had taken the exam in Feb last year and had got 630. So My goeal was nothing less than 700. Here is what I found different. There were many probability, combination, permutation problems (6-7) ans many coordinate geometry problems. None of the books can prepare you for these, as sample questions dod not exist. I would strongly suggest using a seprate school book for both. I'll post the book for probability tommorow. I I also catergorized the 10th ed SC and CR questions into categories of the types of Q as defined my most prep books. I will post athta also. that helps you see pattern in the questions. I did read Grammer smart, it helped some, so I would recommend. I did KP verbal RC section 3 times. It took me a long time to improve on RC. I still would do badly on the RC in ARCO RC book on the long passages. The thing I did differnt was aaftrer mid july horrible practice scores I never took a full lengthe exam again. I knew I was taking a chance, But I felt my morale was very imp and I cannot let myself think poorly about myself. I took every advice on earth. I read and took small notes on 80% of the analyse the issue topics. I memorized the math tables, I created abcde for POE on the scrap paper befoer the exam for the entire verbal section, I ate a banana one hour before the exam, oatmeal and coffee, and took low sugar protien bar for the breaks (forgot the apple at home). I jogged for 10 minutes before leaving the house. I started practicing waking up at 6:30 1 week before the exam as my exam was at 8:30. I spent half hour on doing the first 10 questions in both sections. Last thing what I saw different was in CR there were lots of complete the argument Q and I got one bold face Q. Hope this helps. I am done with GMAt for my life. Ask me any Q.
  6. Why is E not correct? "his courage was as that of Rosa Parks, who refused........" I read somewhere on this forum that "like is used to compare nouns and "as" is used to compare actions.
  7. Can you please elaborate the thought process? Anupam
  8. This is easy question, but my brain is frozen, Please explain: (1) s-r =5 (2) R and S are not integers.
  9. I am in MI and I need the 10th Ed of Official guide. Can some please loan it to me for 3 weeks. I lost my copy. Anupam
  10. I think the probelm with Q2, is that "although" is used to create some sort of contradiction like "Although X was true, Y happned". But here there is no contradiction.
  11. I think the ans to Q1. is e. The simplified version of that sentence is: Doctors know little about how the bacteria is spread and why the disease it ("it" refers to bacteria) casuses afflicts some and spares others. using a answer which has "it" will make it sound like disease afflicts some but the bacteria spares others. In Q2 I think the answer is A. Your sentence is correct. B - having been proved is wrong C - Words are misplaced D- "not proved" is wrong E - requires "altough it has not been proved" If E had the "been" I would have choosen that over A What are the correct answers?
  12. Even though I am not clear why the ans is E, C is wrong beacuse it should say "All Major Networks".
  13. This question has been discussed mutiple times on this form and after looking at all the threads I still do not understand why B? The federal government requires hospitals to tell a Medicare patient of their legal right to challenge their discharge if they feel they are being sent home prematurely. (A) hospitals to tell a Medicare patient of their (B) hospitals to tell Medicare patients that they have a © hospitals to tell Medicare patients that there is a (D) that hospitals tell Medicare patients of their (E) that hospitals tell a Medicare patient that they have a A and E are out beacuse "a patient" is comapred to "they" later on. C is out beacuse of "there is a". Now between B and D both seem to haev amabigious "they" "their" not making it clear who has the right to challenge discharge as mentioned by Erin earlier. I also understand that when we use "require that" the verb has to be in base form, which is in D. Intially I thought maybe the difference is between "requires" vs. "requires that". But I read somewhere on this forum that in GMAT land they are usually equivalent. Then what makes B right and D wrong?
  14. You got it the other way around. T is a subset of S, so E is correct.
