  1. I took my TOEFL again on July 21st. I had taken earlier in July 2005. Since the score got expired, I had to take the test in 2007 again. I had got 287 back in 2005. This time I got a 113 R-29, L-29, R-26, W-29. I messed up on speaking because I lost concentration for a second. Well with no preparation this time, it is a good score to me.
  2. Erin, I need to contact you regarding a post. The website says, i cannot PM you. So please let me know how to do it? Thanks
  3. Congrats Maniranjan. Best of luck for apps. So are you applying for Fall 2007?
  4. @saritthe - Thunderbird is a joke. Seriously. Don't even think about it. Keep off. @skytrax - Even a mid-tier school does better job overall than T-Bird in international business. It is in the business of just fooling people around and ultimately succeeds in getting some slaughter heads.
  5. I beg to differ with you on this. In US, you always had to carry a passport when you test TOEFL/GMAT/GRE and the likes. I have a personal experience on GMAT and TOEFL. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31037&highlight=Buried+forever Read my test experience here. This was always under ETS. Also, you will need to take an appointment again which means you have to PAY again. Although i am not sure about this under the new scheme of things.
  6. I actually found that at the BW forums from harvard and Stanford grads resp. Sorry should have qouted that
  7. congrats and bestuluk for apps. Unique screen name though ;) Any particular reason for that name?
  8. AFAIK it will be extremely difficult for you in MSU and Darden. Most of the top tier schools have 570/580-790/800 as their range. Ofcourse Harvard has a guy with a 590 but he was old hog (US Senator) and another one was an olympic medalist at Standford. So that is the "stellar" profile you need to beat! Realistically, if you can get your score to 600, lot of doors will open up! It can be reached.
  9. AFAIK, money will not be a bottle neck for getting into NYU FT. I am sure not many people can afford a FT from their own pockets. But GMATBong can better advise you on this.
  10. I hav applied to just Wharton. Wanted to test the waters this year around. I am considering Fall '07 because there are a lot of things other than GMAT that i need to ponder on for my candidacy to be unique. :)
  11. Bestuluk both of u. May the force be with you. Amen
  12. No sweat! like i said, you are a competitive candidate at any top school. Work on your essays and setup your recos. If i were u i would not apply in R3 though unless u have saved the world a couple of times or won an olympic gold. That said, NOT getting in R3 is more related to logistics (visa, fin aid, etc) for international candidates if you are one! So ADCOM is extremely cautious about giving out admits to internationals in R3. your undergraduate GPA could be a concern but u demonstrate an upward trend in acads that is so +ive. Hope u r not converting ur GPA for undergrads and ur undergrad truly gives out a GPA. I am saying this because me being an international as well my uni doesnot give GPAs but percentages.
  13. well sb001's advice i would consider as extremely demotivating. Looking at your demographic you can be competitive at any school. I know a Nigerian engineer at Wharton with 660. No need to worry, i think you are in the middle 80% of many top schools. Moreover, your GMAT breakup is very close to the 80/80 guidelines that many top schools look at. But yes, do not go by stats alone. Work on your essays and get good recos from immediate managers.
  14. okay...so u r not that down in verbal as i had expected. For RC, go through the Princeton Review 2006 CD edition. Read the RC part. They have very good strategies to deal with the RCs in GMAT. Do a couple of RCs from PR using these strategies. Then try Kaplan. After this try OG. I am sure this should help you. This will probably take a week. Another good book for RC (not only GMAT RC) is "How to Read Better and Faster" by Norman Lewis. If you are in US, this book should be available in any public library.
