    If you have a co-authored paper with a professor at a top 10 econ department you are a reasonable candidate anywhere. But ask your coauthor.

    US News is a reputational survey. They ask department chairs and directors of graduate programs to rate all department's PhD programs. The survey is re-run about every four years.
