Hello, I have an offer for the MPhil in Economics at Oxford but want to change to the MSc in Economics for Development. Due to a recent existential crisis, I'm not sure I want to become an economist or stay in academia -and due to the change of the MPhil program and the fact that I didn't get ESRC funding, I'd prefer to do the MSc in Economics for Development. Does anyone know whether it is possible to switch from the MPhil to the MSc? I assume that entry to the former is harder because the program is more rigorous but on the other hand they are run by different departments and obviously the MSc in Economics for Development also receives a lot of applications.. The application deadlines have already past. Has anyone heard of people who have switched from the MPhil to the MSc? Thanks -
What are my chances of getting into these schools? PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: Mid ranked Liberal Arts College: graduated in 2010 , US Majors: Economics and Mathematics Cumulative GPA: 3.71 Econ Major GPA: 3.83 Math Major GPA: 3.51 GRE: 800Q, 600V, 4.0 AW Math Courses: Calc I,II,III, Discrete, Linear Algebra, Mathematical Structures, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics I, Mathematical Statistics II, Real Analysis, Research in Math (Mostly A's and B's) Econ Courses: International Economics, Economic Development, IO, Game Theory, Economics of Non profits...the list goes on (Mostly A's) Letters of Recommendation: 2 from Northwestern and 1 from Princeton ( I'm expecting very strong recommendations) Research Experience: Im currently working at a think tank in my home country (not USA) Teaching Experience: TAed Accounting and Managerial Finance SOP: not written yet........ I have been admitted in the MPhil program. I'm just wondering what the chance of getting funding is. According to the announcements, Clarendon and Weidenfeld scholarships have been offered, and I don't receive anything. So I lose the two big ones :(. Regarding this, what is my chance of getting funding? and what are my option to increase my chance?
