  1. Hello, I haven't took my GRE yet. My undergraduate CGPA is very low which is 2.61 I had a poster presented at a conference which was held in my campus. I want to know that if i score 305 (157Q + 148V) which varsity should i pursue for MS in Physics? I prefer a full scholarship. I am open to not only US unversities but also other schools in various countries. Please reply. Thank you.
  2. Dear Altruists, Could anyone of you be kind enough to rate my argument task? Thanks in advance Topic: On Balmer Island, where mopeds serve as a popular form of transportation, the population increases to 100,000 during the summer months. To reduce the number of accidents involving mopeds and pedestrians, the town council of Balmer Island should limit the number of mopeds rented by the island's moped rental companies from 50 per day to 25 per day during the summer season. By limiting the number of rentals, the town council will attain the 50 percent annual reduction in moped accidents that was achieved last year on the neighboring island of Seaville, when Seaville's town council enforced similar limits on moped rentals." Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation is likely to have the predicted result. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation. My Argument: While the proposal apparently solves the problem of accidents in the island, it requires some vigorous vetting before concluding that it is justified to put it into action. First off, for the increased number of passerngers gathering in the island during summer will rush the system even more and will cause a time limit effect to carry all the passenger to their destination in time. This fact will cause the drivers to drive faster and may lead to more accidents than what is being observed these days. Moreover, just the cutting off of the mopeds of the road will not solve the issue. To make sure that the passers-by on the road are okay, it requires investigation of the presence and location of the foot over bridge or footpaths which ensure the safe walking of the travelers on the island. Presence of speed breaker or zebra- crossing in places of relatively more people can also stop road accidents with the pedestrians as installations of this can help the driver to automatically slow down and allow the pedestrians to pass. If there’s not enough of this system, then diminishing the number of the mopeds will have little effect on the risk of accident. What’s more required is to check for the capability of the drivers’ to do their business; if they are properly educated on driving and if they have sound knowledge of the traffic system. While the solution as stated in the prompt is working for the other city, it may not do the same for this one.The area of the seaville may be smaller and decreasing moped rentals might have no issue with the overall transportation system. This may not hold true for this city as it has way more people during the summer and may face severe problem on the road in proper management of the tourist reaching their destination in time. Due to the lack of the transportation, a single mopede may be overloaded with the passernger, say for a single family of four and it may run into accidents because of its not being fit for carrying this load. From all the aspects described above , it doesn’t sound feasible enough to decrease the number of mopede during the summer will provide a good solution for the existing crisis.
  3. Analysis of Argument: The following was used as part of an internet advertising company\'s appeal to businesses: Furniture Depot employed our internet advertising company to help. Since then its sales increased by 10% over last year\'s totals. Furniture Depot\'s success demonstrates how using our internet services can increase your profitability. My Answer: While it maybe true Furniture Depot sales have increased over last year but the author's argument does not make a cogent case for usage of internet services as reason for growth in markets. While furniture depot did employ internet advertising company to help , it is not indicated by the author how many customer of furniture depot did actually used these services for their own benefit. Also if these services were used by customers, a feedback should have been taken from customer to backup the argument but clearly that's not the case here. Sales might have increased for furniture depot as compared to last year's totals, but not necessarily due to these services. Employer Furniture depot might have also used other ways for their advertisements such as billboards and newspaper ads, which might have resulted in increment of furniture sale, as the targeted audience here might not be technologically advanced to use internet. The argument could have been better if author would have mentioned some statistical data to support, as here he has only mentioned the increased percentage over last year totals, instead author could have provided the data of past few years and overall increment of same. Also to support the argument, author could have shown the feedback from various customer. Kindly grade this and provide your feedback. Thank You :)
  4. A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position. A nation that enforces all students to study an equitable national curriculum before entering college could have more consequences that meets the instant gratification that comes when education is unified. A nation should not enforce a tantamount education for all of its students before entering college. This policy seems to have advantageous outcomes but thought about deeper, could lead to consequences for the nation and students later down the road. The policy if enforced could have an amplitude of consequences. By implanting a education that is cookie cutter for each student, leaves room for students to slip through the cracks. This policy would have determential consequences to students that fall on either end of the spectrum of the average student. Students such as those that have special needs or learning disabilities would not receive the attention that they need. Current studies reviewing the school curriculum in the United States, has shown, students that have an extra hour of one on one time with a teacher trained to work with special needs, leads to a higher success rate of these students passing. Likewise, looking at the opposite end of the spectrum, students who seem to be above average, thrive in a curriculum that challenges them more than if they were in regular classes. Enforcing a universal curriculm would not address the needs of students who not benefit from a one fits all education. Buliding on the points stated above, if a nation was to implenment the same education to all students, it could run the risk of allowing students with special talents not feel well-equipped to move onto college, thus not contributing to the nations society. Consequently, the nation would start to lack intellectually important people that if were encourage in a unique way in early education could have made the nation better. Take a look at Albert Einstein, who was told he would never amount to anything. Luckily, Albert had more motivation and vision to presue his passions, but if given the chance perhaps he could have achieved more in his lifetime. A nation who wants to make education better for its students should think about the consquences of implanting a national curriculum before mandating this policy. The consequences such as, missing once in a lifetime innovative thinker due lack of speciliazation in the school curriculum could have disadvantages, which is why a nation should not enforce this policy.
  5. Hi, I have my GRE on saturday 19 July. I have given the 2 powerpreps and my scores were: PP1:305 PP2:301 Is the powerprep accurate predictor of the actual GRE? I have used Magoosh for prep and given their test as well. I scored 309 in that. My Magoosh predictor says I will get V:151-156 and Q:154-159. I am really scared as I need more than 310 for doing MS in CS. Please help!!!!!:dejected:
