Hello, I was wondering if I can get my profile evaluated by a current accounting phd and to get some advice on what schools I should be aiming for. 1. Undergrad: B.S. Chemistry-Business, Magna cum Laude 3.8 GPA Recipient of the Excellence in Chemistry-Business Award – highest GPA in major 1. Grad: M.B.A. with concentrations in accounting & finance G.P.A. 4.0 Recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award – Economics/Finance Department 3. Test scores: 700+ GMAT 4. Research experience: 3 academic presentations; One of which was given at the International Academic Business Conference Co-author to all three research papers/presentations along with PhD faculty 5. Work experience 1 year Graduate Teaching Assistant 2 years staff accountant/assistant to the controller 6. Research interests: Accounting education, inefficiencies of SMEs, convergence of GAAP & IFRS 7. Other: - Great LoRs - Math courses: Calculus I & Statistics I -- definitely lacking in this department—hopefully GMAT score and chemistry background can negate this - Licensed CMA What tier of schools should I focus on? Will I be able to get into mid-tier schools? Is my profile competitive? Thank you so much! Any advice would be appreciated.

Profile review for a phd in financial accountancy/finance
rashmi12 posted a topic in PhD in Business
HI fellas, I have decided upon pursuing a phd in either finance or accountancy, as I like both the subjects equally. It would be really helpful if you guys can let me know how good my profile is and what are my chances of getting into top 10 phd programs for both the field. My profile Indian, 28 years old. GMAT : 750 (51 Quant, 39 Verbal), 5.5 AWA I am currently working as a research assistant for last 2 months with an accounting prof at a top Indian business school. Just finished my MBA last year with an overall CGPA of 3.5 from the same business school and 3.72 in core courses. My average CGPA in accountancy/finance/eco/stat subjects is more than 3.75. Before that I worked at one of the top investment bank for four years in India in fixed income division, with an experience in financial modeling and algorithmic trading. My graduation and post-graduation is in Statistics from one of India's most premier institute, where I had most sophisticated math, stat, and programming courses. Though my undergraduate cgpa is below average, while post-graduate cgpa is just above average. I also represented my state in regional mathematics olympiad. I am mostly interested in Finance, because of my professional background. However, I was introduced to accountancy during my MBA, and got really interested in the subject. As I mentioned, I am currently exploring more about accounting research through RA. I have selected following programs in finance for applying: Stanford GSB Booth Wharton Haas Stern Kellogg Sloan Duke and the following programs for Accountancy: Stanford Booth Wharton ULCA Harvard Austin It would be great if you can review my profile and give me a fair idea regarding my chances for them. It would also be great if you guys can suggest some other schools which might be good for consideration as well. In accountancy, I am thinking of research in archival in financial accounting. Thanks a lot in advance. Regards, Rashmi.
