My Target Scores

  1. I've been looking at stuff from poetsandquants and the like, and it seems like the opposite is true In Terms of Admissions Prospects, There's Never Been A Better Time To Top-50 Apply To MBA Programs This article above discusses a 10% increase in M acceptance rates for top-50 programs over the course of the past 5 years. Thoughts? Do you agree it's much easier to get in now than, 2015 maybe?
  2. Hi, everyone! I have been admitted by Toulouse School of Economics(TSE) into the M1 Economics program. I have to confirm my application in these days. Before the confirmation, there are somethings I want to know. Is TSE well recognized outside Europe? My goal is to undertake a PhD after obtaining the Master's Degree, and I will apply for universities in the US. Many people tell me that I should be mentally prepared to do a PhD in Europe if I go to TSE. How is TSE compared with UBC whose graduate program in economics I also applied for? My major concern is that UBC only offers a one-year MA program while TSE's is two years, which means that I have more time to prepare for PhD and that I don't need to have a gap year in order to apply for PhD programs. On the other hand, UBC is more widely known and has a better ranking. As for TSE, many people might have never heard about it. What's your opinion? Your feedback is important to me. Thank you in advance.
  3. hi everyone Can anyone suggest me the colleges offering masters in animation at us and australia thanks in advance guys
  4. Need suggestions regarding best colleges and programs for MS in computer science related fields. Below are my scores & details : GRE Score : 158 (Quant) + 142 (Verbal) [unofficial] Work experience : '6 years 8 months' in I.T. firm as 'Data Warehouse ETL Developer'. Bachelor's degree : 'Bachelor of Technology' in 'Electrical & Electronic Engineering' GPA 2.7.
  5. Hello everyone! I have received an admission offer from Barcelona GSE for the M.Sc in Macroeconomic policy and financial markets program. The offer is partially funded, so I will have to spend 10000 euros + living expenses (1 year). As an international student, I need to get a clear idea of how would this programme help me in the future, that is, whether an investment worth it or not? Background: I am a Mathematics graduate from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and have worked as a research associate in the economics area at Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Both of these institutes are the best in the country and have an excellent international reputation. Through my work until now, I have garnered an enormous amount of interest in financial markets; I aspire to either work for international development institutions as a financial economist or as a global investment manager in international corporations. The concerns I have in mind are as follows: 1. Non-EU alumni placement information: It is not possible to figure out how non-EU students have fared after graduating from the Barcelona GSE website and resources. As a non-Spanish speaker, I want to know how the opportunities to find a job within the EU after this program are? As another poster @iitiim has mentioned before: "At the end of it, if I have to return to my home country, then I don't think I will be able to get a job that offers any significant raise from what I am currently earning, which basically means I will get no return on the investment." 2. Location of the programme: The programme takes place in the Bellaterra campus, and all other BGSE master's programmes take place in the Ciutadella, how does this affect the living experience (as I see networking one of the essential components)? Thanks for taking the time to read and reply! Cheers, notmyname

  8. Hello. I am waiting for the admission results from the universities mentioned above (except for Mannheim, applications open in a few days) and thought it could fruitful, while waiting, to compare or discuss about their programmes (or even other considerations not strictly related to academic matters). Yet, first of all, is there anyone around who applied for the same programmes (i.e. UC3M MAE, PSE APE)?
  9. I am contacting you to update you on the status of your application. Our Admissions Committee has considered your application and at this stage no final decision has been made. Your application has, therefore, been put on hold until all the MPhil applications have been assessed. Once this has been done all applications that are on hold will be reconsidered and a final decision made – this will be during March/April. I will contact you by e-mail if we are going to make you an offer, but please also keep a check on your CamSIS self-service page for the status of your application. Anyone who could help me with interpreting this....PLEASE very anxious.
  10. Hello everyone! I am desperately looking for advice. I got admitted in PSE Master's Analysis and Policy in Economics and LMU (University of Munich) MSc Economics programme and I am unsure as to which is the better school. I do not intend to pursue a Phd but am also unsure as to what path in economics I want to follow, therefore I decided to do a more general graduate programme in economics until I make up my mind. Has anyone attended either of these schools or has some information regarding them? I know both are really good, inexpensive and both are in rather costly cities. The advantage of LMU is that it is in Germany and potentially the job prospects there would be better and I would also improve my German language which may prove useful in future. It is a university with very strong traditions and reputation. PSE on the other hand is quite new and I am unsure of their overall status in Europe but they have some very strong professors and it's Paris after all... Any suggestions/advice/comments will be helpful as I need to make up my mind very soon! Thanks very much :)
  11. Hi, everyone! I am an international student who earned a bachelor's degree and have recently been accepted to LSE for MSc Economics (2 years) and M.A. of Economics (1 year and a half) at NYU. In the end, I would like to pursue Ph.D in economics in the United States to become a research economist. I would like to hear your opinions on which school I should choose for my Master's program since I don't have anyone around me who earned a Master's degree in Economics. In terms of pursuing a Ph.D after earning my Master's, what would be my optimal choice? (Let us leave the living cost and the tuition fees behind although they are one of my biggest concerns.) Thank you for your opinions in advance! Wish you all have a great day.
  12. I've been accepted to all the three programs stated above. No funding. Needed a little bit of help to decide between these 3. I'm not sure if I want to specialise in development econ, but it is something I've really enjoyed studying and researching during my undergrad. Also have one internship in the same. Columbia is significantly more expensive, however there are perks of being able to work in the US after a degree. The job market in UK is significantly worse. Oxford and LSE offer progression to PhD, Columbia doesn't. Most probably, interested in a PhD after masters. If anybody could provide an insight into any of these programs, it would be really helpful.
  13. Hello people! So I am accepted to BGSE's MMFM program this year. I was rejected to the Msc Econ and was accepted to this program instead. I know this program is actually for pre-professional but I plan to do the PhD in the future. I saw the syllabi of other Msc programs and noticed that BGSE's Msc Econ is basically an equivalent of other program's M2 year. So what I am thinking now is applying for the MRes and take those advanced micro/macro/econometrics in my second year in BGSE. Would this work well? I am also accepted to Toulouse M1 and waiting to hear from PSE but I personally prefer Barcelona better. The other thing is that I saw someone concerned over the campus location. The Msc Econ is in UPF but this program is located in the UAB campus. I am unsure whether this can be a big issue too in terms of interacting with the faculties from UPF. If anyone has gone through the same path that I am planning now or has done the MRes in BGSE, I'd very appreciate your opinions. Thanks in advance!
  14. Hello! I've been accepted at the Barcelona GSE Master of Finance (with tuition waiver and no scholarship) and at the Warwick University for the MRes/PhD track (Tuition waiwer and scholarship 10,000 pa). Now I have to decide, could you give me some advices or comments about the two universities? My Background: BSc Mathematics Turin University, Italy MSc Mathematics (Jointly degree Stellenbosch University, South Africa and Universitè de Bordeaux, France) MA Economics 1yr in a Investment Bank Thanks!!
  15. I have got admits from Cornell M.eng ECE 1 year program and MS ECE NCSU. Please help me decide which one is better on the basis of Job prospects.
  16. Hi All, Please let me know if anyone got offer from ERIM (Netherlands) or got an interview invitation from the institute for their MPhil in Business program. I got an interview scheduled on 5th, so needed some suggestions on how to approach it. Thanks,
  17. Hi everyone, As admission decisions roll out for a number of graduate school programs, I am curious to see how many people have applied to the Western Mfe program, who has/has yet to hear back, where people stand with accepting their offers, and what other programs they have applied to. I am new to the Urch forums so I'm not quite sure how much of an audience this post will receive, but here goes nothing! Hope to hear back from some of ya!
  18. Hello everybody, I would like to give an example to illustrate my problems: Suppose that I get the PhD admittance with either fellowships or other financial aids from University A and B in U.S. this year, and I take the offer from University A and reject that from University B before Apr. 15. However unfortunately, for some personal reasons, such as family, visa rejection (I am not a native U.S. resident), health, and girlfriend, etc, I cannot register for University A timely. Therefore, I have to apply again for the next year's admittance of University A and B, and my questions are: 1. Will my rejection of University B in the first year have impact on their decision on me in the next year? 2. Will University A deny to give me admittance again for my registration failure in the first year? 3. Or their decisions in the second year should depend on their policies on these situations? Then could I ask for their policies before applying? From whom, the secretary? Thank you for viewing and replying!
  19. I received two ADs(2015 spring) from USC and Purdue. It is too difficult for me to make a choice. As you know, USC: Computer Engineering ranked 14 and in LA Purdue: Computer Engineering ranked 9 but in West Lafayette rank and location, which one is more important? Please give me some advice about which AD I should accept. I just want to find a job after graduate.

  24. Hi all. I just got admitted with full funding and a chance to be a research assistant into the program in Baylor U. In fact, I would like to pursue PhD after the completion of the MS. I do not know if the program is suitable for me. Also I got admitted into the MSEco of Tufts without any funding! That will be a really big cost for me. I don't know how to choose:cower: Anybody please help me......
  25. Hi Guys, I got admited into Cornell CS MEng for Spring. I haven't heard of Brown CS MS yet, and there is a deadline for response to Cornell near the end of Nov. Would anyone compare the two programs? If admitted into both, which one will be a better choice in what aspects? Some things I am considering about are: 1. academic life: such as the curriculum plan for preparing students' careers in either industry or academia; The study stress; the availability of help from department; the easiness to get high grades. The Cornell CS MEng program is generall a two semester program, and can be extended to three semesters. The Brown CS MS program is generally a three semester program, and range between two and four semesters. 2. The size of the program: I prefer a small one. I am not sure about the historical data of how many students enrolled into the two programs each year/season. 3. The history and prospect of employment of graduated students. 4. The cost: I guess the tuition will roughly equal? For Cornell, it would be about $22,565 per semester (two or three semesters). For Brown, the total tuition for $22,304 per semester (two to four semesters), and unlike Cornell, Brown will charge tuition according to the course credits instead of semesters. I am not sure whether there are differences in the other costs (housing, dining, transportation, etc) for living in these two places Thanks for your inputs! P.S.: I studied ECE and applied math in my undergraduate and graduate schools. I am not a CS student, though I have taken some computer courses offered from non-CS departments. My programming skills are not great yet.
