The author explains that the United States is using school system that is based on the European system. In which students are graded on the basis of their ages. The speaker, however, suggest that they grad system which is being used in the United sates is not ideal. The Speaker explains that the individuals are different in learning. Some times a student of six years is not mature enough for the school and some are ready at the age of four of five. A student of age six can get admission in the school to start his/her first grad regardless of their metal maturity. The speaker further says that the students even in their teen ages have different social and physical maturity. In graded system , students have to repeat the study material through out the year or otherwise they have to wait for the whole year to get new material. The author in the passage explains the graded system in the United States, which is borrowed from European system. In which students get education according to their ages. There are Primary, intermediate and secondary grads. Each grad deals with different age grope. Different teaching schemes are implemented according to the grad. After the completion of secondary grad the student are granted with Secondary school or high school diploma. In summary, the reading passage provides an overview of the educational system in the United States, which is based on the grad system. In the listening, the speaker, however, explains the possible flaws in the graded system being used in the US and suggest that it not the ideal one.
