  1. Hello all, I have been planning to take the GRE exam by the end of this year and bought some GRE books on Amazon however, I am forced to sell them at short notice ($15 for all three) because I am leaving the US in three days due to a family emergency and these books are too heavy to fit into my suitcase. Condition: new, as I never got around to actually use them yet. The books are: 1. Manhattan's 5lb Book of GRE Practice Problems, latest edition 2. Official GRE Verbal Reasoning Practice Questions, 2nd edition 3. Official GRE QUANTITITATIVE Reasoning Practice Questions, 2nd edition I am based in Washington DC metro area. Please send me a message if you are interested. This is an urgent sale. Thank you, greekgoddess
  2. Hi all. I'm an undergrad student at a top 30 b-school interested in doing a phd in management. I'm interested in organizational-level issues. However, it seems like that there are two tracks (strategy and macro-ob) in the field. I'm reading some phd-level books and papers of strategy, but what about macro-ob? What are the key differences between the two? And how could I find relevant phd-level books and papers to see if that interests me? Thx for reading and consideration!

  4. Topic: Not everything that is learned is contained in books. Compare and contrastknowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why? Everyone has their own preferred way to gain knowledge. I agree with statement that not everything learned is contained in books. I feel that way for two reasons which i will try to convince in the following paragraphs. First of all, we can find very personal advice from cyber source, such as blog, video log and beauty website, and from communication easily. Recently, it is been popular to share one's personal experience over social media which is practised and valued for that person. Also, you can see if things written in books are actually real from personal results. For instance, I saw many videos made for to check if some kind of home remedies and hacks are true. Some of those were total failures if I were to try for myself. Moreover, as an graduate striving to find very helpful but rare professional papers to gain knowledge, it is easy to find from internet. Depending on where one lives, studies or works, finding books from reliable source is hard. For example, I felt that way when I was in university and studied about rare earth elements, because that specialised field of study was not popular in my country. At that time all source I could search for scientific paper was internet, which was easy accessible. In addition, becoming cyber is environmentally friendly as we do not need to print on papers. For these reasons I presented, I believe the most important source to gain knowledge is internet which might also help environmental conservation.

  7. Hello urch members, happy to be a part of this forum! Can anybody suggest about the most important FPGEE study materials need to buy or which books are most important to start study for the FPGEE. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hey everybody! Let's do something to get our minds off of admission results for a bit. What books are you planning on reading over the summer, before classes/math camps start? I'm thinking about books that will help you get ready for the next 5 years, though I guess this can be anything you've been meaning to read. For anyone who's already been through this process, please share books you read to prepare (or wish you had!). I will start. I found a copy of "Mostly Harmless Econometrics" in a used bookstore and snatched it up, thinking it might be good to read before taking graduate econometrics courses.
  9. Hey Guys, Could you please recommend me a list of books that would teach me about experimental design in marketing CB?

I am specifically looking for books related to business (for eg. the innovator's dilemma, blue ocean strategy, lean start-up etc. just to name a few), also if you have anything else lighter along the likes of Phd comics, then those books are welcome as well :playful: Thanks for your suggestions :proud:

  17. As we all know revised GRE is starting coming August. Everyone is anxious of new pattern and searching for appropriate material. Most of the publisher have already released their books for revised GRE. But before purchasing them, it would be better to know which one is worth how much and targeted to which section (verbal/math/ACRO). So, everyone is requested to post review of the books they are using. Since some might give GRE in August; also mention whether your views on book are pre-exam our post-exam. I have just bought the 'The Official Guide to Revised General Test by ETS'. Most of the theory material in the book is available as free download on ets website. Only the problem sets are additional. There are 6 sets of verbal (2 each from easy, medium, hard level) giving around 60 verbal questions. There are 3 sets of quant giving 45 questions and 1 set of 10 questions on data interpretation. It also has full-length PBT which is not on ets site. So we have around 200 questions total each with detailed explanation of answers. It has one full-length test in CD which I guess is same as (I have reserved it for end and hence don't know what's inside)
  18. Dear advanced users, please help me, is there someone who successfully combined self-study materials with on-line GMAT classes? I am planning to study alone, what is important to check for? What products need to include?
  19. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, and have GMAT scheduled on 2 April 11, Please help me with suggesting good material for SC. I have completed OG11 &12 and Manhattan SC. I don't feel 1000 series useful as there are no explanations. Can anyone provide me with some alternatives.
  20. I recently wrote my GRE. Was not good.. 780Q+450V. As I an a non-native speaker I have to give TOEFL as well. I have Princeton Review's Book . Which Books do you people recommend????
  21. Hi guys, I was searching for some book to help me with my struggling preparation for "GRE Subject test" and found this ARCO GRE Computer Science By Stephen S. Ben-AVI, YUSUF EFE (Amazon.com: Gre in Computer Science (9780133635652): EFE/BEN AV: Books) on Amazon. I got this book today from Amazon to find it too easy!!! I am sure that I am not that well prepared to feel it easy but I felt the whole material itself to be below par in terms of difficulty!!! (Are the authors trying to push up our confidence and morale?) Anyone used this book? Any comments? I feel like wasting $16.93!!! OK, and in general what all material do you guys use apart from (excluding text books). 1) GATE material 2) MCQs in Computer Science (found in CalmLogic's signature). How are Schuam Series? I have not tried them yet. I know that that its important for us to solve more and more questions instead of Hours of just theory, but where do you find more problems. Regards, Microkernel
