Originally, I earned my BA with a double major in Business and History: total GPA of 3.75. I planned to become a history professor so I completed a MA in History from a top 50 national university with a GPA of 4.0. At this point, I realized the poor job prospects for people who earned a PhD in history. Fast forward 18 years... in order to support my family I teach mathematics and computer science in a public high school. At this point, I figure it is now or never to become a university professor. I am looking at applying to AACSB accredited programs for a Business PhD that begin Fall 2021. Under consideration: Resign my high school position, work on an online AACSB 12 month business program MS (entrepreneurship, management, or business analytics) for 2020 - 2021, and knock out the GMAT or GRE this summer. I do well on standardized tests typically scoring in the 90th - 99th percentile. - Will a new master's degree increase my chances of being accepted to a Business PhD program? - Arizona State (Carey) accepts up to 30 trasfer credits from a complete master's degree. What other US institutions accept transfer credits? - Could a master's improve my future job prospects?

I am on waitlist for Kenan Flagler and the feedback i got for my application was everything was strong in my application except GMAT score. Following is my profile GPA - 3.8 Years of experience - 8 (IT consulting, mainly financial application) GMAT - 680 Recco - excellent The reason is that as i am trying to switch from IT into IM (investment management) the career services is not convinced if i will be able to. My question has anyone else done it? Is it feasible? Do firms really look at GMAT if you have CFA ? Any other plan with which you can get there?

Hello. I graduated from University of North Carolina Wilmington with a B.S. in Finance 2 years ago (GPA 3.5). Since then I have been traveling abroad and recently returned to the states. Now that I am back I would like to pursue a career in Software Engineering (i want to write code) and am not sure the best way to go about doing so. Of course I should have done a CS B.S. but I did not. I have had 3 years of object oriented programming in High school and currently enjoy programming for myself. I originally thought to get a 2nd B.S. in computer science, but after exploring this deeper it turned out that most departments recommended applying for a M.S. in Software Engineering/Comp Sci. I am currently in no debt and am able to go back to school full time. My questions are: 1. What is the best route for me to take to pursue a software engineering career? 2. I know I will have to take Calc II, data structures, Object Oriented Language class, and something similar. Is it possible to get into a top program with the right GRE score and good prereqs grades? 3. Would job prospects be available from a non-top Master's Program or would those programs not be worth it? Thanks!
