Questions or concerns Ideally, I would want to pursue PhD in Finance and have an academic role. However, for want of enough Finance/Math research experience, I believe getting into Top 20 Finance PhD programs would be tough. So, in such a situation, should I target Top 20-50 Finance PhD Programs? Or are there any Masters in Finance (M.Res. or M.Phil) programs which can help my cause in getting into a better Finance PhD program after? Or should I instead go for a Quantitative Masters of Finance Program and keep my options of working in the industry and going back to academia (if I still want to).

Hi Everybody, Need a frank and blunt opinion. A little quick too. I am based in US(original from India) since last 4 years and working full time in IT. Total work exp is around 5 ½ yrs with gpa of 3.6. Scored too bad in gmat just 470. I have gone through the forum and majority opinion is too take the gmat again. Now the scenario is m approaching all the deadlines(don't want to push the mba to next yr) and i don’t think i would be able to make much difference in score within month’s time. M based on east coast and was planning rutgers, smeal n so on. Which i think due to the score may be out of the question now. But keeping in mind the score n gpa, will appreciate if you guys can tell me some decent programs on the east coast or any were with a chance of acceptance. Will still apply for Rutgers anyway what are the chances? Some of the programs i came across are: 1) One year :- LeBow College of Business 2) Zicklin School Of business 3) Fordham Graduate School of Business Please be frank enough, i know with this score i might not get in at all any were. But please provide some info say if i want to go ahead with these score how good are the chances and which programs. Thanks
