Hi, I'm on a mad rush to get applications completed and sent out before the Fall 2011 deadlines at grad schools. I'm interested in MS in Robotics or AI though I guess I'll have to go for some safe MS in CS applications as backup. GRE 1510 V-710 Q-800 GPA 3.5 on 4 I did my BE in CS from a reputed non-IIT/NIT college in India. I have three good letters of recs. I had one paper at an international conference. My final year project during BE won the best project award in the university. I have done miniprojects in Robotics. Considering all this, what do you think are my chances in the following list? UMich, Ann Arbor, MS in CS (Robotics and Vision) Gatech - MS in CS USCal - MS in Intelligent Robotics University of Georgia - MS in AI UPenn - MS in Robotics (I sort of thought this would be the best bet, but then I browsed many of the old threads and now I'm not sure at all) Univ of Texas A&M - MS in CS Columbia Purdue Northwestern Also, can you suggest some state universities I can apply to that will have lower fee structures for the MS program? It's the first time I am really "seeing" the meaning of the dollar in my country's currency terms! :( What are the chances of financial aid? This last minute rush means my univ list is pretty narrow. Are there any univs that I'd really miss out on by not waiting one year for the next admissions session? I don't mean the private ones where the MS will be very expensive. The Cornell CS dept's MEng program has a deadline of Feb 1. Do I stand a chance there? I didn't keep it in my list because I am still confused about the MS/MEng debate which comes up each time I ask a teacher or a senior about it. ETA: I completed my BE in 2010 and am working now. I am not sure how that will help or hinder the admissions at colleges. Verukal.
