Hey, thanks so much in advance. I'm a UK student looking to apply this round for UK Masters/PhD programmes. So far, I'm considering Cambridge MPhil Econ Research, Oxford MPhil Econ, LSE MSc Econ and LSE MRes/PhD. Any honest feedback on prospects or other options including funding (except for LSE MSc) would be greatly appreciated! Interested in research in development and political economy mostly. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: BA Economics, Cambridge University, UK - currently going into 3rd year so just have 2 years of exam results Undergrad GPA: 1st Class in 5/5 papers (1st Year), 1st Class in econometrics project (2nd year), no 2nd year exams due to Covid but 1st Class in 3/3 mock exams. GRE: 170Q/157V/6.0W Math Courses (list the grades for each course): Mathematics and Statistics - first year course in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, statistical inference (1st Class) Mathematics and Statistics - second year course in static, dynamic optimisation, further linear algebra, set theoretic probability, inference, Bayesian methods (No exam due to covid, not even mock exam) Econ Courses Undergrad (list the grades for each course): Intermediate micro - first year (1st Class) Intermediate macro - first year (1st Class) Economic history (1st class) Game theory - second year (no exam, 1st Class in mock exam) Intermediate macro - second year (no exam, 1st Class in mock exam) Intermediate econometrics - second year (1st Class in coursework, no exam but 1st Class in mock exam) Other Courses: Politics and Social Aspects of Economics (1st Class) Letters of Recommendation: 1 from RA, relatively young researcher 1 from supervisor, fairly established 1 from supervisor and lecturer, fairly established Research Experience: 2 month summer RA (not a formal RA setup, just did some data-based work for a professor at my Cambridge college) Did an undergraduate research project in development studies part time during my first year. Tried to write an applied theory paper (still very early stage working paper) in first year, but without supervision. Other (Notes, concerns etc.): Self-assessment: Weaknesses: My main concern is the lack of second year exams due to covid. In particular, no formal maths course beyond multivariable calculus and linear algebra level stuff. I haven't done any formal pre-doc RA either because I've just finished my 2nd year. Any insights as to how this may affect my application are greatly appreciated! I'm looking to stay in the UK for PhD and so LSE is obviously the best option, and they're the only one with a direct application from undergrad so I thought I'd give it a try while I'm also applying to their Masters. Any advice about where I should think about applying too would be amazing as well. Strengths: Quite good grades in first year. Good Quant GRE.

Hello, everyone! Just recently, I was finally able to take the GRE, and after having taken it, I want to warn you all of one thing: do not let the GRE trick you into thinking that you're doing worse than you really are! There were various points in time while I was taking the test in which I was highly convinced that I was doing absolutely horrendously, and I thought that I would have to retake the test. Well, I just got back my results last night, and... well, as you can see from the title of this post, I had absolutely nothing to worry about! Here's the thing: because the GRE is so complex, it was designed—and I am convinced intentionally—to make test-takers feel as if they're understanding less than they actually need to. My best guess as to why this is so is so that test-takers are less likely to rely on prior knowledge that they had before taking the test and rather to apply more of an a priori logical approach to solving the problems which the test presents to you.* Therefore, many of you will feel like you are doing worse on the test while taking it than you really are, and I want to ensure you all that there is still a chance that you may be doing well. Now, my advice can certainly be taken a bit too far—if you feel as if you are struggling with the contents of the test, you may very well be struggling to get your desired score. An overconfident view of your capacities to score well on the exam won't do you any more good than a total lack of confidence in yourself. So, if you find yourself in a similar situation to the one I was in while taking the exam, I would not advise deciding to ignore that feeling that you might be struggling entirely. However, I would most certainly advise you to remind yourself that it hasn't yet been ascertained that you have scored poorly, and there is still a chance that you may be doing better than you think. In doing so, you will neither be compelled to throw your hands in the air while in the middle of taking the test, nor will you be setting yourself up to see the test as easier than it really is and thus remove the necessary amount of pressure you need to take the test seriously and consider each question carefully. I hope that this account of my experiences while taking the test has proven useful to some of you, and I hope that it removes some of the anxiety that some of you may have while taking or preparing for the exam. I wish you all the best of luck in your studies for the test and in your performance on test day! Kind regards to all, —Topher *If anyone is not entirely sure what "a priori" means, I will be happy to define it for you!

Hello everybody, I am a German Pharmacist and I moved tothe USA last year. I am now trying to figure out what I need to doto become a licensed Pharmacist here. I know that there is the FPGECProgramm including the FPGEE. My problem is that I am not sure if Iam qualified or the test. My main issue is the 5 year-DegreeRequirement (I graduated after 2003). To become a Pharmacist inGermany you need to go to university for 4 years and pass the firstand second State Exam. Then you need to leave the university and do a one-year internship. After the year of internship you have anothertest (the third State Exam). Only if you pass all these three testsyou get the license to work. So it takes at least 5 years to be aPharmcist. Now I do not know if I meet therequirement of 5 years because my education at the university wasonly 4 years and the website of the NABP clearly says thatinternships do not count. Is there another German Pharmcist whograduated after 2003 and was able to take the test? Does anybody know what I can do if theinternship does not count? Can I just go university here for a yearto get the 5 years or is my whole degree useless? I am thankful for every answer!

Hi Guys! I sat the October 2017 exam, and I passed. So, I've decided to sell the textbooks I used to prepare for the FPGEE exam. Below, the books on sale. 1) APhA Complete Review for the FPGEE £80.00 (I bought it for £123.00). The book is in mint condition with no scribbles or writing on any of the pages. 2) Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology Aug 2014 edition. £25.00 (I bought it for £29.29). Brand new and never used. 3) Manan Shroff 2017-2018 Edition Reference Guide for Foreign Pharmacy Licensing Exam - 1200 Questions & Answers $30.00 (I bought it from $69.99). Well maintained book; however, I have written and highlighted in the book. Hence, selling it really cheap. If interested please get in touch. Good Luck!

Hi, I am a foreign pharmacy grad. I live in CA. I did my 1500 intern hours in community pharmacy setting. In 2014 I got my eligibility to take naplex, but I could not pass the naplex. Then due to family issues i was not able to take the exam untill now. However, when I applied for Pharamcy license exam, I got a deficiency letter asking for documents for my institutional hours. Since my intern license has been expired, I can not practice in any settings. Besides, I am confused why I got eligible in 2014 and now I can not. I would appreciate if you give me your advice. Thanks

[h=1]Hi, Thanks for this wonderful forum and great people who visit it! I recently took the GMAT but did not do too well on it. I did well on the Verbal section, but Math has always been difficult for me. I am trying to take the GRE, as I find that it fits my style of learning (information covered, topics) better. What recommendations do you guys have for improving GRE Quantitative Section? I am hoping to pursue an MBA and get into a Business School. Regards, GRE Student[/h]

The following appeared as a letter to the editor from a Central Plaza store owner. "Over the past two years, the number of shoppers in Central Plaza has been steadily decreasing while the popularity of skateboarding has increased dramatically. Many Central Plaza store owners believe that the decrease in their business is due to the number of skateboard users in the plaza. There has also been a dramatic increase in the amount of litter and vandalism throughout the plaza. Thus, we recommend that the city prohibit skateboarding in Central Plaza. If skateboarding is prohibited here, we predict that business in Central Plaza will return to its previously high levels." Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation is likely to have the predicted result. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation. In the preceding statement the author claims that the increased number of skateboarders is the main reason for the business downturn in Central Plaza. Accordingly, skateboarding should be banned there in order to overcome the crisis and improve the business. Though her claim may well have merit, the author presents a poorly reasoned argument, based on questionable premises and assumptions. Based solely on the evidence the author offers, we cannot accept her argument as valid. First of all, the fact that there is a coincidence between the raising number of skateboarders and decreasing number of shoppers, does not necessarily mean that those two phenomena are related. It is possible that there are other factors explaining recent negative changes in the business. For example, decreased average income of the population or increased average prices could be other reasonable explanations. As the author does not discuss other possible causes for such a situation, this is a serious flaw in the argument. Second, the author fails to explain the relationship between the number of skateboarders and the amount of garbage in the plaza. Skateboarders are not the only ones who may be responsible for disorders. For instance, it is possible that there has been a dramatic rise in crime all over the country, and Central Plaza is not an exception. Similarly, the number of bums in public places might have risen and thus, resulted in such a situation. Hence, the information about vandalism in the plaza without any supportive information does not strengthen the author's argument at all. Finally, the author fails to consider what real impact the prohibition of skateboarding may have on the business. It may be that the skateboarders are those who mainly shop at the plaza stores. Skateboarding and shopping are not mutually exclusive, and people can easily combine these two activities. If this is the case in Central Plaza then the forbiddance of skateboarding will result in even decreased level of the business. While the author does have several key issues with her argument's premises and assumptions, that is not to say the entire argument is without base. The author could provide statistics on the major local economic and social changes for the observed period that might have affected the business of the plaza. Similarly, she could compare Central Plaza with other local shopping centers to see whether the downturn is idiosyncratic or not. Another improvement would be to conduct a survey investigating the percentage of skateboarders among all shoppers. Though there are several issues with the author's reasoning at present, with research and clarification, she could improve her argument significantly. In sum, the author's illogical argument is based on unsupported premises and unsubstantiated assumptions that render her conclusion invalid. It cannot be said without more evidence and support that the prohibition of skateboarding will result in increased levels of the business. If the author truly hopes to change her readers' minds on the issue she would have largely restructure her argument, fix the flaws in her logic, clearly explicate her assumptions, and provide evidentiary support. Without these things her poorly reasoned argument will likely convince few people.
