Hello all, I am an Ethiopian college sophomore currently in the US on an F-1 visa. Although my status is in order. my visa expires in July 2012. Here is the tricky part: I have been accepted on an exchange program in France in the upcoming fall semester (August 2012-January 2013). This means that my visa will have long expired by then and that I would not be able to re-enter the US in January. My question is: can I renew my f-1 visa while I am on the exchange program in France, at the US embassy in Paris? Do they process third country national visa renewals? I have been having a very difficult time getting information and also getting in contact with the embassy there. Most people say that this procedure can be risky...but I don't know if that would be the case for me since I have everything in order. I have never been out of status, I am in good academic standing and also have ties that I will eventually lead to go to Ethiopia after college. So folks, can I renew my f-1 visa in France? All feedback is highly appreciated.

Hi, I am going to a smaller flight school in Florida, and are currently on F-1 visa there. I applied for OPT (optional practical training) through that school last week. I have now decided I want to change to a better flight school in Oregon which also have f-1 students and can give med ability to do practical training. I suspect the flight school in Florida not to tell me the truth, because they are telling me that I cannot move. There are som regulations which do not allow them to do this. The other school, on the other hand, is telling me that this is an easy and quick thing to do, but my current school will have to sign me over. What is the truth in this case? Can I or can I not change school? If I can, what do I have to do? I will be thankful for any good answer on this :)

Hello, My girlfriend is a B2 visa holder currently, she is south african. She is trying to get into school here in Miami, I would like to know what is the best way to transfer or apply for a new visa. 1: she is already in the states, how would she apply for a new F-1 who is the best contact 2: is it better for someone who is traveling to just transfer from one to the other or apply for a new one. ( I read a thread where you had said that a transfer doesnt last when you leave and return. 3: anything I should know about the process? or a thread that might help?
