I am on a Fellowship for this school year at least, and have been given a specific fellowship for summer 2021 and 2022 that is only given to particular students. Can I put both of these on my CV and if so, how?

Hi all, I'm trying to work out the budget for the next 5 years, and even though the PhD stipend for business is relatively generous comparing to other fields (my offers were all around 35-38k), it's still gonna be quite tight if my SO cannot find a job (she's an international student). I wonder if one could be considered for a fellowship after admission? I know that there are extra fellowships at the schools I'm accepted to, but my offer letters don't include those, and I'm not sure if I'm eligible or not.

I am evaluating a few offers I have received this cycle. The funding ranges from 30k/year to 40k/year, with various mixes of fellowship and RA/TA responsibility. Ideally I'd compare these offers against the full distribution of funding offers given to business phds, but that data is obviously not available. In the absence of such data, can you please give me your thoughts on whether 30-40k/year is a decent offer? How does it compare to the median offer? Do funding offers vary by concentration: Finance, Accounting, Strategy, Marketing and Bus Econ? If so, what are approximate averages for these different concentrations? Also, does funding vary by school ranking? What are average offers in the T20, T50, etc? Just another applicant trying to inform himself before making a decision.

I was notified of being nominated for a fellowship, but not officially accepted yet. Does this mean very likely to get in or could go either way?

It is a well-known fact that external funding sources can have a large influence on admissions outcomes. Does anyone have information on fellowships that prospective applicants can apply to? The following are under my radar: - NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (deadline passed) - Soros Fellowship (for 1st/2nd gen immigrant applicants) - Ford Foundation Fellowship (for minority applicants) Are there any else that people are aware of?

Hey guys, I am wondering if anyone has any useful advice how to optimize one's financial situation as a grad student. As an international student I am really clueless about it. I got a fellowship for the first year with 22k stipend, tuition and insurance covered. In the 2nd year and after I will have to teach for ca. 19k and tuition and insurance covered. I guess the money are OK for Midwest, but still I am not very thrilled. I know my department has a few fellowships for the best student, best public policy paper etc. that I could aim for too. So my questions are: 1) How much is actually 20k in Midwest? 2) Can one combine fellowships and teaching? Seems like one could reach above 30k with both. 3) How common is it to work in summer and how much one could aim for? I am thinking about IMF, central banks internship, maybe some consulting. 4) What are other streams of income? Best paper competitions, journal articles etc.?

Hi guys, I was accepted to a PhD program in Accounting, and even though I am allowed to wait till April 15 to accept, they let me know that fellowships are available on the "first come, first serve" basis. I still want to wait for some other schools but the fear of not receiving the fellowship (tuition waiver) kinda scare me. Advice from anyone who has been through something like this is greatly appreciated. (is the "first come, first serve" thing just for luring the applicant?) Thank you
