  1. Essay topic : People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. My Essay: Every person takes myriad decisions in the journey of life. Generally decisions are based upon multiple factors:emotions, logic, consequences of decisions, people involved in the situation. People choose the option with which they feel more comfortable then it may be based on emotion or logic. Let's consider a few examples: Staying away from family for better job opportunities, better education are one of the most important decisions for one's career. One person might choose to stay with the family and leave career opportunities because of emotional attachment with family, sometimes he needs to give emotional support to the family. Another person might choose to leave family and go for his/her dreams. First decision is based on emotions but still there is logic behind it, the person won't be happy after leaving his family. He feels good in his comfort zone. Maybe he does not have courage to go away, stay alone and make new friends, start a new life. For him emotional decision is logical. He has his own reasons. Second person likes to take challenges, explore the world, get out of his comfort zone. His decision is also based on emotions that he wants to grow and improve. He has logic and emotions in his decision. Does it mean that any one of them is a poor decision maker? No. They are good and happy with their own decisions. Both of them are able to justify their decision with logic. Maybe first person has taken decision based on emotions but still it is logical. Moderate amount of emotions are always logical. Let's consider country's important decisions. PM cannot take such decisions based on only emotions, because it will affect entire country. If he takes decisions based on emotions then he won't be able to justify it with apt logic. Even if he generates some logic then it will be fallacious. In this case, PM will be poor decision maker. CEO of a company cannot take decisions based only on emotions. There should be practical reasoning. Emotions should be important part of any decision because our happiness or sadness after decision is also a emotion. The way we will handle consequences of decision depends upon our emotions. If we are able to justify our decision with logic then definitely we are not poor decision makers. But whether we should focus more on emotions or practical approach depends upon the situation, consequences after decision, people involved in decision making.
  2. “A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.” Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position. Requiring schools across the national to teach their students the same immersive and well-rounded curriculum will have a net benefit to the educational system in the country. By doing so, the mandate will raise the level of education among the general population, eliminate basis in terms of increased funding for wealthier school districts, and level the playing field for higher education admission. By requiring a national curriculum, the nation can vastly increase the education of the average citizen. There may exist holes within a given curriculum at a school, and moreover, these holes may be widespread throughout a region of the country. This could leave many citizens without the education necessary to go above and beyond in their respective post high school careers. By instituting a curriculum for all schools in the nation to follow, the nation can assure its citizens are prepared for their subsequent endeavors. Furthermore, a mandated national curriculum can expel biases in the general public, and more importantly, potential employers that result from a student coming from a less sufficiently funded school district. Deficits in funding for school districts is a much larger problem that is beyond the scope of the argument, however, requiring all students to be up to par with the same material can work to bring all students to an adequate level of knowledge about a variety of academic fields. Continuing with this notion of raising the level of education of graduating students to the same level, such an initiative would provide students in lower income school districts with a step up to being competitive with the pool of applications into colleges and universities across the country. While there are certainly many other aspects of the college admission process, having all students apply with roughly the same level of knowledge would not only allow admission committees to focus on other areas of a student's application that make them unique, but would also take the load of academic preparedness off the student's shoulders and allow them to focus on those aforementioned areas of their application to distinguish themselves from other applicants. In conclusion, we note the benefits to a nation's education by requiring all students to larn from a national curriculum until entering college. We have illustrated that by doing so, the edcuation level of the nation will raises up to fill any deficits in preparedness for their adult life, biases surrounding school distrcits of lesser funding can be eliminated, and students will be more evenly compared when applying to colleges. 3. Prompt: Scandals-whether in politics, academia, or other area-can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. Stand: A scandal can be defined as an event or a succession of events that are regarded as legally and morally incorrect and result in public outrage. While it may be true that in some cases scandals proved to be instrumental in achieving the solution to certain problems, however, it may or may not always be as effective. Saying that scandals are useful because they focus public attention on problems in a way that no speaker or reformer ever could, would not be quite correct. Additionally, repetitively using other people's plight to teach public a lesson or bring about a change does not speak well of the society. If we look back in time, we can find for ourselves several examples of situations where great reforms were introduced in the society by speakers and reformers without having to ride on a huge scandal. If we were to consider the sati pratha, prominent in medieval India, where the widow was required to immolate herself along with her husband at his funeral pyre, it was abolished by the efforts of reformist Raja Ram Mohan Roy, who pressurized the then Governor-General to pass appropriate laws to ban the practice. He was successful in awakening the conscience of the masses by his efforts and work through publication of pamphlets and newspaper reports. He relied on his own skills and judiciousness, without taking aid from a scandal of any sort to bring about a major reform in the society. As another example, if we look at Martin Luther King, the African-American activist and leader of the African-American Movement, he fought for equal rights for black men and to abolish unjustifiable laws. He was able to achieve the same by his famous "I have a dream speech". His speech revolutionized the nation and caused the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of America. However, the movements that took place for the freedom of blacks were fueled by scandals such as the one involving Rosa Parks, where the activist refused to give up her seat in a public transport to a white man. However, it was largely due to the efforts of the speakers and reformers that were able to focus the attention of the public towards the pressing issues and stir up a revolution. On the contrary, there have been situations in the past that have quite favorably focused public's attention towards societal issues with the aid of scandals. In 2010, the Commonwealth Games were hosted by India, a country plagued by corruption ever since its independence in 1947. The multi-sport event of 2010 is remembered for unfolding one of the most scandalous sports events of all time. The former chairperson of the Organising Committee (OC) of the CWG'10, Suresh Kalmadi, was the main accused according to the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) charge sheet on the charges of conspiracy, forgery, misconduct and corruption. The scandal caused a major uprising across the country where people took to streets, organised marches, went on hunger strikes to raise their voice against corruption. In this particular scenario, a scandal proved to be a catalyst and brought about a major reform, something that the speakers and activists had been trying to achieve for quite a while. In conclusion, thinking of scandals as a magic bullet to focus public attention upon pressing matters is naivety. We must respect the personal lives of other people and not try to use their misfortune and plight to teach public a life lesson and aggravate the situation. Scandals should not be viewed as the only vehicles of reform; we must not underestimate the oratory skills of the speakers or the efforts of the reformers to bring about a change in the society. However, there are times when scandals prove to be the most effective solution to a problem and revolutionize the situation at hand but to say that scandals are useful for the same reason is puerile.
  4. Hi! I've been told my essays lack examples so I tried to incorporate one throughout my issue essay. I'm not sure if I overdid it, though. I would really appreciate your evaluation of this attempt. Please rate it as well. Thanks a lot in advance!! Instructions: Leaders are created by the demands that are placed on them. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. My essay: People are malleable creatures, whose experience consistently shapes their personality and skills, just like the tide shapes even the greatest cliffs. No matter how strong the material that builds them, the tide always prevails. First and foremost, our daily tasks coalesced with our working environment is bound to influence our ethics and professional skills. Try comparing the same prosperous, motivated worker whose marketing career earned him a management position in two very different companies. One is a creative association whose workers own significant portions of the company and share extraordinary concern and dedication towards the company’s well-being. The other is a competitive corporation where our manager implements directions given to him in order to supervise a large team of people from different backgrounds and disparate levels of motivation. It is difficult to believe that these two experiences could ever shape a similar leader. Our manager of a creative association may be a radiant leader, encouraging insightful ideas of his staff, occasionally directing overly idealistic endeavors towards more practical and profitable projects. His managerial style is relaxed and compassionate, although imposing at times. The corporate manager in which our marketing prodigy developed, is a rather assertive, controlling and authoritative figure whose methods range from helpful suggestions to intransigent demands needed to warrant the overall success of the company. Following the example of the two leaders, it is fair to assume that these two, at least professionally, very different people have divergent success standards. Being the only manager of a creative association, our off hand manager will probably be focused on the success of the company, therefore developing altruistic tendencies that sometimes lead towards values such as solidarity and community-building. He is likely to be less egotistical compared to the person working in a large corporation, whose ladders he needs to climb. Overall well being will fall behind priorities linked to the personal promotion of our corporate leader. The success of his department will be in function of his impeccable record, whose sole purpose lies in the advancement of his career. Try to guess which leader will attend personal events of his staff and which one is more likely to play golf with his superiors or network at important events corporate events. Finally, while some may argue that it is our personal predispositions and our level of education that more often define our professional persona, my example proves that our social habits may differ in particular environments and our effective role may influence the relationship we have with our coworkers. Furthermore, people with the same education may develop their knowledge in fundamentally different way: take for example a Harvard lawyer whose career revolved around a divorce cases and compare that person with an environmental lawyer. Even though their educational basis differs in nothing but minutia, the dichotomy of the direction in which their knowledge developed can be explained exclusively by their professional surroundings. To conclude, just like rocks, leaders’ personalities come in many different shapes and forms, which inevitably disclose all the challenges and inclement or auspicious circumstances in which they were created. Our past achievements and failures not only define who we once were, but also who we seek to become.
  5. Scientists and other researchers should focus their research on areas that are likely to benefit the greatest number of people. An uber successful research or a revolutionary invention that benefits the “greatest number of people” typically has to be one that fulfils the basic needs of the masses. However, as depicted by the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, necessities of a population are cultures, time or place specific. Thus, though counterintuitive to many, scientists and researchers should focus their studies on a wide array of areas. Physiological and security needs such as food, water and safety might be the most vital concerns plaguing the developing nations while most developed countries would have advanced to satiating their social and self-actualisation desires. In addition, the degree to which all these requirements are a bane differs largely between countries. Therefore, this gap evident across the world justifies for varied findings by scientists - not at the expense of some smaller more diverse sects of people. Mark Zukerenberg (MZ), an avid computer programmer, created the Facebook during his college days purely as a networking site to list the faculty and to rate the attractiveness of fellow students. However, currently, Facebook has truly defined an “online connected world” and redefined online marketing in many unlikely facets of life including healthcare. Apart from its most well-known use of making new friends around the world and keeping in contact with family; it is increasingly being adopted by physicians to treat, teach and learn (marketing of health procedures, wellness benefits etc. )from their patients and fellow doctors. If MZ had focused on the “most beneficial areas”, the world would not have seen an unseemly invention whose value and potential continues to revolutionise the way we perform our day to day activities. Just as many languages cease to exist today, if demand specific research is pursued, subjects such as paleontology, linguistics and folk art will vanish from the face of the earth. Intuitively, though these areas of study may seem unimportant to the vast majority, their findings hold answers to mysteries that would otherwise be left unanswered by traditional branches of research. For instance, paleontology is the study of secrets our fossils have hidden of our past. With the discoveries on pollen and spores unearthed by a paleontologist; a biologist could find the key to increase the corn output by multi-fold. In contrast, some might argue that, a concentrated exploration in a traditional field would yield better returns of investment on the invention as the demand for the prototype is defined prior to the commencement of the study. Though, from a financial perspective this is a sound argument, this is based on the assumption that the scientists will be capable of pushing the boundaries continually to achieve new frontiers. In conclusion, a concerted effort to bring about the maximum benefit to the majority may reap limited results as opposed to a diverse study in varied areas.
  6. hi there , after i read the instructions of writing an issue task , please review this issue and tell me how its my position is ? please my lovely reader comment me by my mistakes and how much score i could take on this issue task response To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- response : This statement mention a simple word major cities, definitely each society have its own characteristics different than other, and if you are interest in exploring and getting to know each society important characteristics , but if we going to say major cities , most of the modern countries during the past years have seen a great change in a lot of major sides of society as example if we going to start by united states of America and how this society shaped and how its looks now , we have seen in a lot of historic materials we used to study or we used to watch through historic documentary movies that’s America start with a beginning simple society called red Indians and this society had its own tribes leaders and its unique characteristics , and most of this community of red Indians is not exist in major cities in try to getting to be in contact with this community , therefore during this days if I'm going to be my own witness for what is the important characteristics I can see now in this society of united states of America , is the fast life that's reflect the modern effecting of technology and take away life , we can see how much changes have been going through this society but most of this changes happened to the modern and huge cities that’s full of business and trading , modern technologies then , we can conclude that major cities of a country is holding unreasonable idea about understanding most of its society characteristics because most of major cities are effected by new modern societies traditional and life , and most of major cities its same as melting pot where you can find a mix of society from different places and from different environment, they came to the city and living on the same path with other exist new modern societies and the most of old traditions it vanished or rarely to find somewhere away of the bust crowd life , therefore if we are looking for the better way to understand and explore the most important characteristics of specific society we have to looking for the roots of this society , hence most of social researchers always heading to major cities villages and country of society we intending to understand its important characteristics , although we have to quote some of the major cities and see how much changes have been reflecting on old societies of this major cities therefore I'm not completely agree with this statement or words about we can understand most important characteristics of societies from its major cities .
