  2. All parents should be required to volunteer time to their children's schools. Parents play an important role in their child's academics. In fact their role is as important as their teacher's role. Though some parents may argue that they cannot visit their child's school due to busy work schedules, it is very essential that they volunteer some amount of time to their children's schools regularly. Nowadays, parents feel that enrolling their kids to one of the best schools in the city, buying them all the stationery and books, completes their role in their kid's education. They don't realize the fact that Education and learning are not only associated with school. It is a process that involves both home and school. Parents should visit their visit their kid's school regularly and must definitely interact with their class teachers. This will help them to better understand about their kid's academic progress and give them a clear picture of their kid's strength and the areas where they are wanting. Since it is always tough for a class teacher to pay individual attention to every kid, parents must spend some time at home and teach their kids. This will help in improving the kids's overall performance. In addition to teaching subjects , parents can teach moral values , based on the feedback they get from their class teachers. Children, when left unnoticed about their academic progress at home ,tend to become less interested in education. And also start to engage in mal-practices. I had a friend who often bunked classes and went to movies. He was warned and advised by teachers many times. He never listened to teachers and bunked classes regularly .Since his parents never came to school, they we unaware of his behavior and still thought that their son was studying well.Only when he failed in the exams , the parents came to know about their son's other side.Had they visited their son's school regularly, they could have avoided this situation much earlier. Parents must not try to track their kid's academic progress by looking at their progress card alone. They must play an active role in their kid's education by visiting their schools regularly.
  3. Hello, everyone. I put this video together for those of you shooting for GRE verbal scores between the 80th and 95th percentile. Bear in mind that the words in this video were pulled from a professional source and show vocabulary levels for people living in America. Using excellent tactics you can compensate for a weaker vocabulary, but you really need to be skilled to do so. Having vocabulary in the range recommended range will increase the odds that you can comfortably hit the target score range. Regards, Payman http://youtu.be/Z7_WBFqKDHw
  4. Hello everyone, I am taking the GRE in three weeks. I took my first Kaplan practice test yesterday before doing any studying and got 96th percentile Quant, 56th percentile Verbal. I am applying to Finance PhD programs, so clearly quant is more important, but I am also worried about the verbal section. Although I have lived in the US for about 10 years, I have a small vocabulary since most of studies were quant oriented. Throughout the majority of the verbal section of the practice exam I didn't know the meanings of the choices (vocab questions). What would you say is the best tactic for me? Is it realistic to try to learn a bunch of words during these few weeks, or is there a better way to approach this? Just to be clear, I am not looking to get a perfect score, but I would like to land somewhere in the 80th percentile or so. Thank you very much!
  5. Hi guys, I took GRE some time back and vocabulary was the most difficult part for me. From the standard list of words, there were a lot I remembered but a few which I could never remember. I searched for a website which could test me on the words I did not know more frequently than the words I knew. I couldn't find such a website. Then I decided to create one. And now I have: Vocabulary GRE. Based on your right and wrong answers, it identifies your strong and weak words and will ask you YOUR weak words more frequently. The website is absolutely free to use and does not have advertisements to distract you. I am not making any money out of this. My goal is to just make it easier for everyone else to learn these words. One thing I will definitely appreciate is feedback. If this method proves helpful, I will extend it to cover quant as well. [DELETED BY MODERATOR] Thank you. Regards, Neerav Mehta.
