My Target Scores

1. Hi, everyone! Here I would like to share some strategies for IELTS speaking exam , that i have use to improve my IELTS score. 1) For Part 1: Keep your answers short and simple - just one or two sentences long. 2) For Part 2: As you're speaking, don't answer the bullet points one by one by one. Instead, focus on giving a complete description of the event, person, item, or whatever it is, and the bullet points will be answered anyway. Give as many specific details as possible. Also, do not try to use "complicated" or "difficult" grammar and vocabulary or your speaking could sound strange and non-native. 3) For Part 3: Your answers should be about 3-4 sentences long. Think of your Part 3 answer like a paragraph! Say your answer clearly, explain it, and then give a specific example.
2. IELTS Indicator is an online test that can be taken from the comfort and safety of your home. The test includes four skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and you will receive an indicative score for each. Your performance will be marked by IELTS examiners and you will receive your result within seven days. Source if Information - IELTS Indicator - an online option for test-takers
3. IELTS test fee has been revised to INR14000 for registrations from 1st April '20 onwards. The revised fee for IELTS for UKVI is INR 15,100 (Fifteen Thousand One Hundred only) (inclusive of all taxes) and Life Skills is INR 13940 (Thirteen Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty only) (inclusive of all taxes) for all test dates 7th April 2020 onwards. source : IELTS Exam Fees in India 2020 - IELTS IDP Thanks
4. IELTS band descriptors are the set of skills which examiners look in your answers. Each component of the IELTS test has some set band descriptors which are used to evaluate your overall IELTS score. In this section, you can get familiar to the IELTS band descriptors for the Speaking test and know which skills to use while answering IELTS questions. 1. Fluency and Coherence Fluency shows how fluently you can express your thoughts in English. If you can speak clearly at length, without making any logical or grammatical errors or unnecessary pauses, then you can easily get a band 7 or higher in fluency and coherence. Remember, being fluent is not the only thing, you need to be logically correct, and this is what determines coherence, which is whatever you are saying, should also make sense. 2. Lexical Resource The lexical resource is the range of vocabulary which you use while speaking. The examiner assesses your vocabulary on the basis of what range of words you use in the test. To achieve good scores in the lexical resource, you should include creative and interesting vocabulary in your answers and also, make sure that you don't repeat the exact words used in the question. Try to paraphrase the words to avoid using repetitive vocabulary. 3. Grammatical Range Grammar is not only an important writing skill, but it has equal value in speaking component of the test as well. You need to have grammar accuracy in your sentences. Your sentence constructions are only accurate if they are grammatically accurate, which means your tenses, use of parts of speech, active and passive voice in speech, should all be accurate. If your answers don't sound grammatically correct, this would mean that you require a lot of improvement in the English language. 4. Pronunciation Pronunciation is a prominent speaking skill in the IELTS test. The examiner assesses you on your capability to be able to use different pronunciation features such as individual sounds, stress and intonation and this carries 25 per cent of your total IELTS speaking score. To improve your pronunciation, listen to native speakers online on podcasts or radio, see how they pronounce words differently. You can get a higher IELTS speaking score when you prepare according to the band descriptors. Make sure to practice for the speaking test with a person so you can improve your frequent errors. 7. IELTS has recently introduced computer-based IELTS tastes in few countries. In India IDP has come up with Computer-based IELTS exams in centers like Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore etc. In my opinion, IELTS computer-based would have some edge over the paper-based exams. Few of them are listed below: Result: computer-based IELTS have 4–5 days time span to declare result compared to 13–14 days in paper-based IELTS. Writing Module: for a computer savvy person who has good typing speed as compared to writing, will have an advantage. Because most of the immigrant applicant has stayed away from papers due to the work culture. They would be better off typing than writing on the paper. Also, people who have bad handwriting would be advocated to write on computers. Reading and Listening: few of the question types will simply have options to drag which will save some time. less crowded examination center: computer-based IELTS is recently started so there are not many applicants available on the same day mostly there would be 5–25 aspirants. which makes it comfy and convenient writing exams unlike paper based which seems to be chaos with 200–300 aspirants together writing exams. flexibility: Computer-based Ielts has flexibility and availability all around the month. As compared to paper-based IELTS which used to happen 2–3–4 times in a month, computer-based IELTS can be written more than 15–20 times in a month. which reduces the headache of getting exams slots. Good option for immigrants looking for quick results.

13. It is generally accepted that families are not as close as they used to be. Give some reasons why this change has happened and suggest how families could be brought closer together. Include any relevant examples from your experience. It is a common debate that families are not much connected now as they used to be some years ago. Many things have attributed to this change that we see in this modern era. Let us establish the reasons why this change has occurred and what can be done to develop the strong bonding between the families. To begin with, talking about the reasons which led to this issue. Mainly, its the technology and specifically the mobile phones and the computers. People are so much connected virtually now that they forget the presence of people around them especially at homes. Most of their free time is spent either watching television, surfing on the internet or chatting with their friends. In addition to that, because of the long working hours, parents are at work whole day. They get back home so tired that they prefer to sleep rather than giving time to their families. There are a number of solutions which can solve this problem. First of all, the major responsibility lies with the parents. They should educate their children about the importance of strong bonding with their family members because it is your family that stands with you through thick and thin. Secondly, they need to take time out of their busy work routines to spend time with their children. This will help in developing the bonding between the family members. To sum up all of the above, being distant from your family emotionally is bringing more negative outcomes instead of positive. We need to take appropriate measures to overcome this problem because family is a source of strength in our lives.
14. hello, I'm Emm and self- studying for ielts. I will be sitting for ielts in two weeks and really really really need your help. Pleaseee. I don't have anyone at home to refer. I thank you very much for your help and kindness. Topic: Damage of the environment is an inevitable consequence of worldwide improvements in the standard of living. Discuss. Nowadays, environment damage is a controversial issue facing many nations around the world. Some people argued that the rise of the standard of living greatly causing environmental damage. Others contend that there is no relevance between environmental damage and the standard of living. This essay proposed a balanced approach. The first thing about environmental damage is that it is a result of the rising standard of living among countries. This is due to the fast development, competition and the industrial activities which drive the needs for a higher quality, modern life. As a consequence, a vast area of lands are deforested, as well as higher consumption of fossil fuel that eventually leads to increased greenhouse gases and climate change. Therefore, the rise of the standard of living put a cost to our environment and thus, efforts should be taken to prevent it. On the other hand, environmental damage is equally influenced by the negligence of the society itself. Protecting the environment no longer become their priorities due to the lack of awareness and indulgence in working lifestyle. People take less concern about their environmental responsibilities thus causing damage to their surroundings. For instance, smog release from industrial plants due to weak environmental policy and regulation. In conclusion, while it is true that the damage of environment is a consequence of the standard of living, but it is also influenced by the society's own negligence. This issue if not treated properly could become serious and go to the extremes. Thus, the environment damage is a consequence of both human negligence and the standard of living.
15. Coherence and Cohesion: How to make your IELTS writing answer flow smoothly advertising removed by moderator Coherence and cohesion is one of four major parts that IELTS examiners consider when marking IELTS writing papers. Therefore, it is important for candidates to understand what to consider about coherence and cohesion in order to receive a high IELTS score. Coherence and cohesion basically mean how well your writing connects or flows together. Some things you should ask yourself while writing your IELTS answer are: - Do you use a range of transition signals (for example, however, firstly..)? - Do you avoid repeating words by using synonyms (increase, rise, jump..) or pronouns (it, them, they..)? - Is your writing nicely arranged into logical paragraphs focusing on one idea? - Do you have a thesis statement introducing your essay in your first paragraph? - Is there good flow between sentences and paragraphs? Try the following coherence and cohesion exercise then check your answers: Exercise 1: Coherence & Cohesion Study the essay below. There are some gaps in the text, and some words which need improving. You should: Ø add transition signals in some of the gaps; Ø add phrases in the other gaps (e.g. in the thesis and summary – study the topic sentences to help); Ø change some words or phrases to make the coherence and cohesion better. Add transition signal Add trans signal to show similarity Complete the thesis by studying the topic sentences Change this to show importance In the past, most women stayed at home to take care of housework ____________ cooking or cleaning. Women’s liberation has meant that this situation has been changed, and in modern society women are playing an almost equal role to men in employment. This has had significant effects, _______ in terms of the ________, for example by ________________ and increasing children’s __________________________, and also for society itself with ______________ __________________. These tr signals are very simple- make them better Use pronouns to avoid repetition The salary of a woman in her lifetime is generally much less than that of a man. A woman can nevertheless make a big addition to the family income. One result of adding to the family income is an improved quality of life. By helping to keep a stable salary for the family, the pressure on the husband is much reduced, so improving both the husband’s and the wife’s good feeling. And the things that can be bought by the family will also be raised. So the family can have enough money to buy more luxuries such as foreign travel and a family car. Secondly is the promotion of independence in the children. Some might argue that having both parents working might be harmful to the children because of a lack of care by parents. But such children have to learn to look after themselves at an earlier age, and their parents often depend on them to help with the housework. So this teaches them important life skills. Add transition signal Change this to show importance As regards society, one impact of women going to work is greater sex equality. There are an increasing number of women who are becoming politicians, lawyers, and even CEOs and company managers. This in turn has led to greater equality for women in all areas of life, not just employment. Women are _________ allowed by law to vote, they can be in the armed forces, and they have legal rights to protect themselves against home violence or sex bothering or unfair treatment at work. Complete the summary by studying the topic sentences In conclusion, the increasing number of women at work has brought about some important changes to __________, including _________________ and increased ______________________, as well as affecting _____________. It is clear that the sexes are still a long way from being equal in all areas of life, however, and perhaps the challenge for the present century is to ensure that this takes place. Coherence & Cohesion (1): Answers [Note: there are other possible answers – yours should be similar to these, but may not be exactly the same.] In the past, most women stayed at home to take care of housework such as cooking or cleaning. Women’s liberation has meant that this situation has been changed, and in modern society women are playing an almost equal role to men in employment. This has had significant effects, both in terms of the family, for example by improving quality of life and increasing children’s sense of independence, and also for society itself with greater equality for the sexes. The salary of a woman in her lifetime is generally much less than that of a man. She can nevertheless make a big addition to the family income. The most important result of this is an improved quality of life. By helping to keep a stable salary for the family, the pressure on the husband is much reduced, hence improving both the husband’s and the wife’s good feeling. 16. Hello everybody! Please could you give me some feedbacks about my essay and grade it honestly:) Topic: The increasing number of social networking sites does more harm than good to people. Facebook can be taken as an example. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? It is certainly true that the social networks, particularly Facebook, have become an inseparable part of our lives. While there are some valid arguments to the contrary, I believe that the benefits of Facebook outweigh its drawbacks. On the one hand, there are some people who argue that networks such as Facebook are resulting in social isolation. To clarify, those people who are engaged in surfing the social sites excessively are tend to have a lack of confidence while "tete-a-tete" conversations with other people. Therefore, they do seem to loose their communications skills. On the other hand, the rest of people underline the fact about the existence of adult content which can have an adverse impact on children. However, there are certain advantages that can easily overwhelm potential pitfalls of using the social networks. Further and even more importantly, Facebook does seem to have a wide range of positive features. Firstly, many people have benefited from this social webpage for its usefulness in terms of education. Facebook users, for example, can get daily suggestions for their study aspects by clicking "like" buttons on different pages. Secondly, it has become a powerful tool in order for people to keep in touch with loved ones in far away places. Finally, there is no doubt that for the majority of people Facebook has become a place where they can share all their experiences (photos, videos, links and so on). In conclusion, I once again reaffirm my position that the social networks similar to Facebook have been very positive trend due to the aforementioned reasons.
17. TOPIC: The use of illegal drugs, such as heroin and cocaine, are becoming more and more common in many countries. What are some of the problems associated with drug abuse, and what are some of the possible solutions? ANSWER: In some nations, more and more people are using illegal addictions like heroin and cocain. The following paragraphs look at some of the risky problems caused by those drugs and recommend some attainable solutions to those issues. Using illegal drugs, especially heroin and cocaine, can result in many perilous social applications. Some of them are: health problem, high crime and poverty ratio, low proportion in generations of the workforce and many more. For instance, if mentioned medicines are used too much, the users will probadly be suffered from illness, cough, cancer or even death and so on. As a result, the rate in generational workforce can be decreased, this can make the country's economy in critical condition. Furthermore, people addicted to those addictions will soon have no money to pay for the costs of drugs. This leads to high poverty and crime rate as poor ones can become thieves or murderers. Thus, employing those medicines above can lead to unexpected subsequences to societies. However, there are many steps which can be taken to tackle those problems caused by illegal drugs. Firstly, the governments should ban the use as well as the production and business of those dangerous drugs. Secondly, people using them should be isolated from others or put in prisons. Moreover, medical treatments for consequent deseases should be made so that the users can certainly be in healthy condition. In conclusion, drug abuse is seriously a perilous issue as it has negative impacts on human. Hence, societies should do something possible to prevent and diminish this problem. Words: 258
18. Hi, Please grade this essay for me. Thanks. Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school. Discuss both views and give your opinion. It is the threshold for the discussion of whether or not getting qualification at university in order to fulfil dreams have created sparkled heated debate within the community. Perception of people can be seen nowhere than television. Many people argues it is good to begin the career after finishing the high school. On the other hand, people believe it is wise to start career after finishing tertiary education. These arguments will be analyzed prior to coming to a reasoned conclusion. It is advantageous of starting the job after finishing schooling education. For example, people who start doing jobs after their graduation, will start thinking independently. They will start earning money which reduce the burden on their parents. Person start learning new every single day by having different duties on the field. These arguments will prove why people support this idea. However, the option of starting the career after the ending of college have more advantages in my opinion. For instance, Person would have the adequate degree and knowledge in order to get the job after completing college education which help them to get higher paid salary compare to the person who started working after schooling education. Person will be more mature compare to the high school kid in order to take decisions which might go in his or against the favor. It goes without saying that it is good idea to begin the job after finishing college education. After hashing out the pros and cons of these point of view, it is felt that the best way to start the career is after completing the college education. It is felt that, it would be best for someone to start the career after finishing post graduate degree in order to create achievable career.

Some people feel that certain workers like nurses, doctors and teachers are undervalued and should be paid more, especially when other people like film actors or company bosses are paid huge sums of money that are out of proportion to the importance of the work that they do. -How far do you agree? -What criteria should be used to decide how much people are paid? The issue of whether nurses, doctors and teachers are paid more than film actors have sparkled heated debate among the community. Whilst movie stars and company executives paid more possibly due to their work or popularity, however, the contribution of the teachers and doctors should not be forgotten. It will be proven in the following paragraphs stating the importance of doctor and teachers. Firstly, Celebrities gets paid huge amount of money due to their popularity. These people are watched by public every single day who get popularity probably due to their look, personality or may be controversial image. Furthermore, people worship their favourite personality in some countries; celebrities get the endorsement with huge amount of bucks as a result. On the other hand, company directors work probably for multinational companies where they have to bare different situations and have to make strategic tactics for company to get rid of it. These people are well deserved to paid high amount of perks. However, one should not forget the importance of community’s important people like doctors and teachers who plays the significant role in person’s life. These are the people who serve the community every single day for a good cause. For example, Doctors check their patient and give appropriate treatment whereas teachers give very important lessons to pupils which help them in the future. For instance, kids learn maths, science, English. Apart from this, they learn time management skills, traditional business knowledge, history and more. Finally, I agree doctors and teachers are underpaid compare to celebrities and business tycoons which are obviously due to ignorance by public. However, people should understand all the characters and decide who plays an important role in their own life and wages should be decided based on those criteria.

23. Hello everyone, my name is Pedro and I'm from Portugal. I need to pass the IELTS exam with 7 on each module in order to be able to immigrate to Australia. I already did the exam, bur unfortunately I missed it, probably cause I had no time to finish my writing exam (not enough word) and it wasn't probably good enough as well. My grades were: Reading: 8 Listening: 8 Speaking: 7.5 Writing: 6.5 (needed 7). Now I'm going to repeat my exam and found this forums, hope you guys can help me out, therefore I will be posting some writing exercises I do at home to get some feedback. Here's the first of them, a letter about some defective kitchen product bought from a shop: " Dear Mr. Paul Young, I am writing to let you know that last week I bought a new dishwasher for my kitchen from you shop. Unfortunately it doesn't work as I expected. When I turn on the machine, it emits a really strange sound, like if it was a Formula One car passing by at 200 mph. After being washed, my dishes look dirtier than before and my silverware looks like it's made of brass instead of silver. I tried to call your shop about this issue, but I was told there was nothing they could do unless the machine didn't work at all. I've even considered cutting some internal wires after hearing this, so that it stopped working and your company would then provide me with support. Considering all of this, I would really appreciate that you would let me return the machine and receive a refund. These kind of issues are really not acceptable, so, if you don't give me a refund, I will follow all the needed legal procedures to sue your company. Best Regards, Pedro " Thanks a lot in advance to all of you. edit: found 2 typos
