Hello Urch! I'm gearing up to apply to PhD programs and was wondering if anyone could share which list is best for program rankings? Texas A&M's, UTD, or another? Or if you have input on the reputation of the following programs for management/OB, that would be valuable as well: Arizona State CMU Tepper Duke Fuqua Michigan State USC Marshall University of Wisconsin All have good POIs, just curious what the reputations of these programs are in the community more broadly.

So I have already come to peace with being freezing cold for the next five years, however I'm not sure exactly where. Not even my thesis advisor is too sure about giving me a recommendation. I'm swaying more towards macro labor and international econ – like inequality/earnings outcomes from technology/trade, etc. I also have a tinge of interest in development. I'm also open to totally changing my course if inspiration strikes. Any advice? Thanks :)

I am just curious which schools usually considers as T20 or T30 for marketing CB. In my personal opinion, the "top" schools are: Stanford UPenn Chicago Northwestern Columbia Yale Duke U Michigan NYU USC And the schools in T20 would be Indiana U U Toronto UBC U Maryland U Minnesota U Pittsburgh UIUC Any thoughts?

Don't have a very outstanding profile. Many rejections from this admission cycle. Only got a Michigan offer right now. But I'm considering going to a Booth RA program (applied micro related, I'm interested in doing micro) and reapply two years later. Any suggestions on that?

Hello everyone, I am glad to say that I was accepted into UMich LSA and NYU CAS for Economics and Mathematics double major. My ultimate goal is to do Ph.D in economics, preferably in econ theory, experimental econ. However, right now I am having trouble deciding which school would offer me the best education to prepare me to apply for Ph.D. Which undergraduate program would be a better choice? I am out of state for umich, so the costs between the 2 would be similar. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you! -
Hey all! Just came across Michigan's joint PhD program in economics and public policy and I am very interested in it. Is anyone on the forum considering applying or know someone who applied last year? I'm interested in learning more about the program since I sorta love it? haha! :proud:

Hi, everyone. I have received an offer from Penn State with funding (24k) and I am currently on the waitlist of Michigan. If I get off the WL, the funding will be 18k. The problem is that Michigan will remove students from the WL on April 15th and I have to make a choice between these two schools before Michigan sends me an email about my results. My primary interest is in international trade and the secondary is in macro labor and applied game theory. I wrote my master's thesis in these fields, but my interests might change in the future into some other applied micro fields. I know that for trade, Penn State is nearly the top, and it is also very strong in game theory, but in many rankings for overall econ departments, it is ranked lower than Michigan. Michigan also have trade profs like Deardorff and Levchenko, but Deardorff will be 74 when I get PhD. For placements, top students in Penn State sometimes go to top schools, but Michigan seems better for students in the middle. Could you give me some advice about which to choose? Thanks.

I'm gearing up to begin the application process during the summer, and I was wondering if I should be concerned about my grade in Calculus 3 (multivariate). I struggled generally that semester and ended up with a C+ in that class. I'm applying to schools as high ranked as U Michigan and LSE, and I wonder if they will see that C as a big drawback. I have an A in real analysis and am taking linear algebra and differential equations in the fall. My economics GPA is sparkling, at a top-75 US undergraduate school, and I have research experience and I will be writing a senior thesis. If I score high on the quantitative GRE, will that resume be solid even with the glaring C? Thank you for any advice and opinions.

These programs seem pretty orthogonal so I'm not sure if this dilemma comes up often. I'm interested in public finance and tax policy and wondering if people had thoughts on which program would be a better fit. Note that I'd rather end up at a straight econ department rather than a business school.
