  1. Hi everyone, After being SO excited for passing the TOEFL ibt, it’s really frustrated to find what the NEXT step is!:proud: May be because I don’t know any pharmacist “to be” in Texas, the board website is terrible! I need some advice, is it better to start studying for the NAPLEX, since Texas only allow 3 months of internship? Or is better to go through the trouble to find someone to hire a foreign intern? May be to be familiar with the pharmacy system here in the US? :distracted: Really appreciate any HELP!
  2. Hello guys, I was using this forum since i was taking FPGEE ( Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination). Today, I passed NAPLEX in a first try with passing score of 75 and I would love to give my feedback to forum which will sure help other candidate. I am not a genius student and consider myself in an average student. As a foreign grad. it was tough to take this kind of big board examinations. For NAPLEX, i started my study after i finished my Internship and studied part time in the evening as i am working full time in Pharmaceutical. If you are full time worker and studying part time for this test then this info will helpful to you a lot. For 4 months I studied part time everyday in evening 5.30pm to 8.00pm ( Used Library for this time ). Within this 4 months i covered all chapters just once, used Passnaplexnow books. After 4 months of study part time one day in a weekend i tried to recall things but NO i couldn't able to recall all drugs. So decided to study full time for a month... took off from work for 3 weeks and study full time as a second time study which help me to memorize things faster than my first time study. I took date for NAPLEX and a week before test I feel that still I am not ready yet. So I reschedule my test date and started my work full time work again. At this stage I was studied 4 months(Part time) and 3 weeks full time (still didn't attend test). Then i bought Rxprep Quiz online and started Quizes part time in evening after work same as my routing, 5.30pm to 8.00pm , for 3 weeks. I usually got around 70% in each quiz. So decided to take other vacation from work and start full time study again. So I took other 3 weeks vacation from work and started studying 10 to 12 hours a day with my target date for NAPLEX test was just before my vacation over. At this stage I was studied 4 months(Part time), 3 weeks(Fulltime), 3 weeks Quizes (Part time) and 3 weeks (Fulltime). Attended a test and Passed today in first attempt, not high score,75, pass. Math is my strength that i know from my undergrad. I am good at math still I also covered one Math book during first 4 months of part time study. 4 Months ( Part time) : passnaplex books, Math book (Pharmaceutical Calculations, Howard C.Ansel) : 3 hours a day during week , No study in weekend because that time is for family and kids 3 weeks (Full time) : second time passnaplex books ( 10 to 12 hours only study, Keep family aside for that time) but not attended Naplex 3 weeks (Part time) : Quizes ( 3 hours a day during week) 3 Weeks (Full time) : Final reading for NAPLEX and 120 SDN math questions.
  3. Hey guys! I am very grateful for this forum, I wouldn't have passed my boards without you guys :-) Thank you! My Naplex Experience: I was B/C average student in school, if I can pass, you guys can too! I used the RXPREP book, which all you need and all I used. I read it twice over the course of 4 months, then 1 week before the NAPLEX I was studying intense with the book and bought the RXPREP quizes for $70 during that last week of studying. I also used the quizzes on Quizlet.com and the Prontopass online quizzes that range from $6-$15. The RXPREP quizzes are set up just like the real NAPLEX. That's all i used! NAPLEX EXAM ITSELF: I got a good sleep (I tried) I was so nervous! But when I walked into the exam room I was calm. The exam isn't the hardest thing in the world, but I prepared myself as if it was....but it wasn't. I still walked out of there unsure of how I performed though. I was numb and neutral. I got about 20 math, that were very easy (i only used the rxprep math to study + I am strong in math). The rest were case based questions, I had a few (3) easy one sentence questions. I had A LOT of cases. I ran out of time at the end and didn't answer 2 questions, including a math question that I wrote a random number in. Oh, and a little more than half of my math questions were fill in, so I had to make sure I calculated properly. I had no HIV, INFECTIOUS questions. All my questions were CARDIO, DIABETES, CHOLESTEROL. They have questions where they ask where does this drug work and they have a picture of the organ system and you have to click exactly where in the organ in works (ex. kidney). I took a break after 2 hours They give you dry erase pad of many pages to use Onscreen calculator, people say the can give you an actual one, if i knew i wouldve requested to save me time. the onscreen one is annoying to use. TIPS: Read questions carefully, but don't think too much Know how to read patient charts and look for unusual values and patient complaints Be strong in math, it carries more value in scoring, for obvious reasons in this profession I am so happy i passed! I just found out today and have been doing a chicken dance all over my house! LOL GOODLUCK. Ask me any questions!! :loveheart:
  4. I just gave my Naplex last Friday. Would like to share my experience. I finished my internship in end of Feb and started studying full time from Feb till mid-April. I used APHA, Rxqbank, Lange Q & A. Here are my thoughts of the exam. It is more difficult that I'd expected it to be. There are a lot of profiles, mainly on drug drug interactions, side effects. Dosage forms is very very important. As I've only worked in a retail pharmacy for 8 months, there are a lot of drugs which I'm not sure of their available dosage forms. So do spend some time on this. But if you have been in retail for some time, it'd be a piece of cake. As for the topics, I must say that the questions came from almost every topic in APHA, except biotechnology, kidney disease, organ transplantation, toxicology/bioterrorism. Do focus on mental drugs, cancer drugs and anti-HIV drugs. These cannot be ignored, especially brand names. Calculations: I had about 30-50 questions. They were not difficult. Just be careful of the units. Besides, read about immunizations. Other than multiple choice questions, there are 'select all that apply' questions. Math questions are mostly fill in the blank. Overall, the exam was difficult but doable. Know everything from MOA, side effects to interactions. Last advice is to manage time appropriately. My time was tight and I almost couldn't finish the exam. Reading and analyzing patient profiles is very time consuming. I have not got my results yet. I'm very very nervous. My next step is to take NJ MPJE. If anyone has advice on the study materials, please let me know, appreciate it :) Good luck everyone!
