  1. Hello, I am a foreign pharmacy graduate tutoring for NAPLEX from 2016. Doing one on one tutoring online and in person. Will be helping for FPGEE with 5$/hr one on one classes.
  2. Hello! I'm new here. Need a little bit help :-) As the title suggests, I need an online medicine supplier. Does anyone know where I would be able to buy wholesale medicines online at affordable rates in USA? If anyone knows how can I find it, please suggest! I live in the USA. Any help will be appreciated. Waiting for your response. Thanks to all of you!
  3. Background / profile: -Graduated from top-ranked public undergrad with 3.6 GPA in humanities major with no STEM / econ coursework other than GEs -After working in government post-grad and learning coding and some math, interested in econ PhD and working in government, the fed, doing policy research, etc (not teaching / academia). I know a masters is easier but from my experience in the industry I want to work in, people with the jobs I want have PhDs. My plan: -Take math courses (full calculus sequence, linear algebra, discrete math) and econ (micro / macro) at community college -Get a very high GRE, especially in quant. (If I can’t do this, probably a good sign to do something else) -Do an online (so I can work and move) masters of science in econ from a school with a thesis option and econometrics focus (North Dakota, Purdue, etc). This is to get some research published and receive letters from econ professors that went to reputable schools for their PhDs -Take advanced math courses (probability, mathematical statistics, real analysis) at some nearby in-person university as post-bacc -Apply to a variety of PhD programs (not picky, not sure what's realistic but preferably in the 20-60th range) Is this stupid, or actually effective? What is the least realistic part of this plan? I’m somewhat unsure about the online aspect of the masters, but I figured since PhD programs mostly care about letters and grades in hard math classes it doesn’t make a huge difference? Obviously this is a very very long-term plan spanning 3-4 years or so before I apply, but that's fine by me. Tl;dr: Humanities major plan to get into PhD: math classes->online econ MS->more math classes->apply Thank you all so much for any advice you can give!

  5. Claim: The emergence of the online "blogosphere" has significantly weakened the quality of political discourse in the United States. Reason: When anyone can publish political opinions easily, standards for covering news and political topics will inevitably decline. Write a response in which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based. Online blogs are at the forefront of connecting people from various communities, cultures and race. They provide a platform where people can post their views on a particular topic with utmost freedom and others can read these views easily. These blogs very often contain posts where people put forward their political views and these may influence readers into following the ideals of the writer. I agree with the claim that the "online blog culture" has weakened the quality of political discourse as the standards for covering news and political topics declining is inexorable due to the freedom online blogs provide to present political views. People all over the country are glued to their mobile phones and computer screens and are reading blogs all the time. Blog writers who are cogent in their writing can be great influencers and would tie a blindfold on the reader's reason. Hence a reader who is influenced by a particular writer's view will turn blind eye to anything said opposite to it. Since everyone in world has the liberty to write a blog, the quality with which information should be covered declines tremendously. Untrained individuals are swayed by bias and would cover news with prejudice which would not present the complete picture to the reader. For example, a person who supports a particular political party will present how the party is involved in something good to such an extent that the readers will credit the party immensely even though the actual participation of the party was miniscule. Similarly, they would draw curtains on the not so good things done by the party and create a parallel track to blame it on the opposition. Trained professionals on the other hand, cover news holistically without any undue bias. They do not try to support a particular group in their coverage but try to provide enough information for the audience to reach a conclusion by themselves. Due to the freedom of online blogs, it is very difficult for all these professional voices to reach the masses effectively as with useless noise, these posts tend to get blurred with the audience. Hence, I would say that the political discourse in the United States is weakened by the emergence of online blogospheres. It is absolutely necessary that audiences are presented news of the highest standards which they deserve.
  6. So I've been lurking about this forum for sometimes and one thing I observed is that the application sweat thread got less and less active each admission season. I wonder if it's just the general trend of people moving away from online, anonymous forum, or there are new channels for applicants to converse? I wonder if there is a group chat or a Discord channel somewhere that is replacing Urch?:drunk:

    English Level Test

Hi all, I've just started preparing for TOEFL. How can I know my current English level? I found so many online english level tests. I'm actually confused which one is best. I need your suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  8. Help Me in Homework is indeed a premier organization offering assignment help and online homework solutions to the customers. We enable students to score well in their exams.
  9. Hi... Would an online MBA negatively impact admissions into an Econ PhD program? I want to learn the intersection of business, economics, and government, and think that an online MBA would be a great asset for me. I've just heard that it's not good for Econ PhD admissions. Is this true?
  10. Would it be beneficial or detrimental to my overall application to have online extension courses from say Harvard Extension School in addition to the master's degree and RA experience? I've heard that online courses are a waste of time and money, but I think doing well in an actual Harvard course (albeit online extension) can be seen as a positive indicator?
  11. I tutor online only.I just take one student and help prepare till the exam.
  12. I decided not to apply for my PhD, so I no longer need to take the GRE. Unfortunately the online course I paid for is non-refundable. The course is the GRE Self Paced PLUS with Kaplan (this is all online) The program is good until the end of June 2019. I will sell it to one person and give you my password. ($900 value, will sell for less) This will give you full access to the practice tests, work bank questions, video lessons, advanced math learning, vocabulary flash card app, and more. More info about the program here. Scroll down to read Self Paced PLUS: https://www.kaptest.com/gre/courses/gre-prep-self-paced√
  13. It seems like the placement info for each of these programs is unavailable online. Does anyone know which of these would be best if I am unsure whether or not I want to pursue a PhD afterwards?
  14. Hi Everyone, Rice University will once again offer our popular online math camp this fall. 15. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Distance learning and online computer classes should replace classroom learning Use specific reasons and examples to support your answers. The technology is emerging with a boost these days, especially in the field of education. Due to all these improvement in the technology there has always been a great debate going on about replacing the classroom learning by distance learning and online computer learning. I believe that replacing the classroom learning with all the digital means of learning is a good idea. There are two main reasons why I prefer to learn through the digital means like computers or mobile phones. First of all, learning using a mobile phone or any other electronic device makes it easier for the students to gain knowledge as it has a lot of study materials available online. In the earlier times these types of facilities were not available so students had to go to schools or colleges to study. The major advantage is that due to all these technological enhancements student can learn sitting at home which reduces the cost of transportation. To cite an example, if students needs to attend the classes every day then they have to travel from their residence to where the classes are held and it costs money and fuel for travelling. It also saves time of travelling and the students can utilize that time in doing something creative or learning something new. In addition to that, as technology is at its hype the classroom learning can be replaced by digital learning and the reason behind it is that if there are online computer classes a student can access the class from where ever he/she wants. If a student misses a class he/she can attend it in his free time as it is recorded with the help of the new technology. To exemplify, if a student is stuck somewhere or he/she is not feeling well then, they can access the lectures later on whenever they are available. Classes can take place even in the extreme weather conditions as students do not need to travel all the way to attend the classes. Ultimately, in many aspects the distance learning and online computer classes are better than the classroom learning, as they reduce pollution and cost of transportation for the students and the students can utilize their time in a better way.
  16. Hi everyone, I am the Director of Graduate Studies atRice University. Some of you may recall that I have posted previously about our online math and stat camps (see here: http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/159050-math-stat-camp-rice-online.html). We are once again offering both camps online this summer. For more details or to register, visit our department website at https://economics.rice.edu/news/summer-math-and-stat-camps Best, Hulya Eraslan

  19. Hello all! I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some feedback and/or reviews regarding the GRE Ultimate 24-hour LiveOnline Course through The Princeton Review. Was it helpful or no? I have taken the GRE twice and got the same exact score so I am looking for some extra help. I want to retake the GRE as soon as possible rather than too far into the semester. Thank you in advance for your comments! Good luck... :encouragement:
  20. If anyone is looking to sign up for Veritas Prep and wants $100 referral credit, please send me a message and I will send you a referral email. I took the Veritas On-Demand course (which for me was $850) and loved it. Highly recommend Veritas to everyone, but specifically the On-Demand course for people who are independent learners and get frustrated w/ in person training courses being side tracked by one or two people asking 8th grade level questions :-D
  21. Check out this website I created that uses an EViews-like interface and syntax to do OLS regression! Free Linear Regression I couldn't find any other decent websites that do multiple linear regression and I wanted something for myself that can test hypotheses, and be able to display multiple figures beside each other for comparison - all without having to buy or download a pirated stat package. I built it for people like me who don't want to have to walk all the way to the school library in the snow just to use STATA. Let me know what you think!
  22. Hey all, my old employer asked me to post here. They are testing a new online teaching system and offering their TOEFL classes for free. It is not a scam. They will only ask for your email so they can send you the class information and such. No credit card, no money to pay, nothing, I promise. They need test students to test out the online system, not the class content (they're program is GOOD). Anyway, check it out if you want. The classes are live online webinars with their teachers. The classes are at 6PM Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is California time, so adjust accordingly. Here is the link to their webpage where you can sign up. If you have any problem or issue you can post here and I will address it! But you wont have any problems! Online FREE! - iTestSuccess

  24. I've been seeing A LOT of request for speaking partners. But this worries me a bit. One thing is that just speaking with another TOEFL candidate, while possibly somewhat helpful, is not really going to advance you that much. In fact, I can see that it might even re-inforce some of the mistakes and myths about TOEFL that are out there (you ever see those posts by people that have been stuck at 22-24 points for months, or even a year or more?..... most often, they are repeating the same mistakes about TOEFL again and again, and they do not even know it!). The other problem is security. Giving your skype or other info out to strangers, though probably not a bid deal, just makes be naturally nervous. So, I talked with our school's administration and they agreed to make an online room available for students to workshop their speaking sections, and it will be moderated by a teacher! Now please understand, this is not a class led by a teacher. Rather, this is an online "classroom" where students can speak with each other, and give each other feedback, securely. A teacher will moderate the speakings and will provide some comments, but the idea is that it will be generally student led. This is free. There is no charge or anything like that. If you are currently a member of our system, just follow the links and log in, if you are not a member you may: 1) PM me with your name and email and I will make you an account OR 2) If you are not sure about that yet, then just follow the link and then join as a GUEST. Later, if you like it, you can request a membership The "workshops" begin at either 9AM or 6PM California time (PST, or -8GMT). If you try to join too early you will get the message that the "meeting has not started yet". Here are the times and links: Monday starting at 9AM -- Adobe Connect Login Tuesday starting at 6PM -- Adobe Connect Login Wednesday starting at 9AM -- Adobe Connect Login Any questions or concerns, PM me! Thank you, Tino
  25. I applied for UIUC's online MCS program back in December for Summer 2011 admission. I was just wondering if anyone else had applied and heard back yet or if anyone knows how long they usually take to communicate decisions? Their website estimates April 15th, but I'm hoping it could be sooner than that!
