  1. Hi there. As I understood, the cheapest option (1.5k) of Harvard Extension is non credit and you’ll get "pass" or "not pass" grade, not A,B.. So, is the juice worth the squeeze? Or better to take credit-degree one to get a grade?
  2. Hi! I'm thinking about pursuing an economics PhD! I'm from a public state school, graduated with a double major in Economics and Applied Math & Stats. I know I'm missing some math courses, but I was wondering how much of a deal-breaker that was. Type of Undergrad: Public State School (top 100 overall) Undergrad GPA: 4.0, didn't list grades assume A unless otherwise noted Type of Grad: n/a Grad GPA: n/a GRE: Haven't taken yet Math Courses (Undergrad):Calculus I/II (AP placement), Calculus III, Applied Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Finite Mathematical Structures, Data Analysis, Operations Research: Determinist Models, Operations Research: Stochastic Models (P, during COVID), Mathematical Statistics (P, during COVID) *all classes are from applied math dept., not pure Math Courses (Grad) : n/a Econ Courses: Intro Micro/Macro, Intermediate Micro, Intermediate Micro, Econometrics, Industrial Organization, Money and Banking, Corporate Finance, International Economics, International Finance, Game Theory, Economic Development Other Courses: Computer Assisted Mathematical Problem Solving (pure math dept.) Letters of Recommendation: I'm assuming I can get three. One from prof's whose class I attended/TA'd for, one from thesis advisor whose many classes I was in, one from prof who I TA'd for and worked with closely during ECs Research Experience: undergrad thesis Teaching Experience: TA for Intermediate Micro, TA for Intermediate Macro Research Interests: Economic Development and related SOP: n/a What programs should I target? Should I even apply? Thanks!
  3. My dear fellow FPGEE takers ,please allow me put this advice forward for you so you can pass and not regret not doing your best to pass : 1- While studying in preparation to take the FPGEE, " NEVER TOTALLY RELY ON " resources that " brief " what you studied in Pharmacy college along five long years , because the FPGEE is designed to measure your ability to act as pharmacists , especially problem solving , in the multitude of different situations in real life in which you are supposed to be with your patients , not your ability to just PASS , because if you passed such examination and even the next ( NAPLEX ) without bearing inside the spirit of a " RESPONSIBLE and RELIABLE " health care professional , you are fast to encounter a situation while on the job that can lead to your hardly earned license being lost or at least suspended . 2- Be honest and true to yourself while studying , and most important , put yourselves in the patient's shoes ; we , as pharmacists , are supposed to make their pain and sufferings less , protect them as much as we can from the harm they may get from side effects , wrong prescription , self-applied medications ,incompliance and the multitude of drug interactions which neither they nor their physicians may pay attention to , and that's why you should always ask yourself this important question before taking the FPGEE ; AM I READY TO BE THAT RELIABLE AND RESPONSIBLE HEATH CARE PROFESSIONAL ..OR ..NOT YET ??...and the more you do your best ,while studying , to be that reliable professional , the more you can be sure to pass the FPGEE with ease . 3- STUDY FROM SCRATCH as if you have just enrolled as a student in pharmacy school , review everything you studied however little or seemingly unimportant , because a pharmacist is non but a bank of information for patients and the last health care professional they consult before being left alone with their medications to take and get benefited ..or harmed . 4- While studying , always contrive questions in the form you are to encounter in the FPGEE ( it will sharpen your wits and help make all information ready and available always in your memory , for the examination , and for your practice after you get your license ) 5- TAKE YOUR TIME and never rush to take the first appointment available ; you are not supposed to pass the FPGEE as a " student " but as a pharmacist who is familiar with ,and an EXPERT in, pharmacy practice , and remember , we are not supposed to pass the FPGEE just to obtain a license , but to practice as reliable , competent , and efficient health care professionals , and the more you put that in your mind before taking the FPGEE , the more you are likely to predict the questions and the problems you will be asked to solve in that important examination and be able to pass it with ease .
  4. Hello, I'm in a tough situation with my FPGEC process. I applied and passed on my fifth attempt in 2011, but wasn't able to complete the TOEFL certification before the expiration period. I contacted NABP and re-applied in 2016, but wasn't able to pass. According to the Candidate Application Bulletin: "Candidates that do not pass the FPGEE upon the final allowed attempt will have their FPGEC application closedand will be ineligible for further testing." I think I'm in this situation. I made two unsuccessful appeals to re-open my application, but haven't had any luck. Has anyone else encountered this situation and gotten an opportunity to re-apply? I'm in a really tough spot and would really like another chance. Please let me know. Thanks, Abdoul
  5. Hi everyone! I am new here and I post this thread to see if I can get any advice about choosing between CU Boulder and SMU. About CU, I am on the waiting list for funding. Since they require a TOEFL speaking score of at least 24 for immediate funding, I don't think I have the chance. But the email says that a stipend is guaranteed if I got a 3.33 GPA for the first year and make normal progress through the program. I can have a 47k budget for my study in CU but not be able to pay more than that... SMU offers an 18k stipend for the first year and guarantees a TA for the 2-5 years if I could pass the qualification exam. I'm interested in labor and I/O and don't have a clear preference for the private sector or the university faculty. Could anyone give me some advice about the funding situation, the percentage of students who can pass the qualification exam or any other information about these two schools? I really appreciate any advice or information. Thank you in advance!
  6. I saw a post on econ job market rumors that claimed that 2 thirds were told to leave due to failing their core exams. The thread goes on and on about pass rates under 50% for the last three years. I know most of these posts are just a bunch of sexist bullies talking trash. Thus these are relevant questions: Are pass rates that low at UC Davis? They mistreat their students? How well they treat students? Davis is my best shot so far so I'm really interested on those issues. (2 acceptances, 4 rejections and 9 applications pending)
