  13. Hello! I am a recent graduate with a BSc in pharmacy from a foreign university (however, I am a US citizen). My goal is to apply direcetly to PhD programs in the US and pursue a career in academia. However, I've been accepted to a (one year) PharmD program at my alma mater and I have the opportunity to work at a hospital pharmacy, and now I'm facing a dilemma. I'm hoping that anyone with experience in or knowledge of applying to PhD programs would be able to help. Would completing a PharmD degree (in a foreign university) give me an advantage when applying for PhD programs? This would be compared to applying with just a BSc. Or would it be more beneficial for me to work at a hospital pharmacy during this year while I apply? Basically my question is if the PharmD versus work experience would be more favored by PhD admissions committees. Sorry for the long post, and I hope someone can advise me. Thank you!
  14. I am a foreign pharmacy graduate, and applying FPGEC. I graduated 4 years Bachelor of Pharmacy and 2 years Master of Pharmacy. Now, NABP is asking me to submit syllabus of my master degree to review my education. Did someone submit syllabus to NABP? My pharmacy school has only simple syllabus document because I received the master degree 8 years ago. I am not sure the type of syllabus would be acceptable. If someone is in the same situation, or experienced similar things, I would like to know what you guys did.
  15. Hello! Does anyone have advice on what / how to study for Washington State's MPJE exam? The online "Pharmacy Law Book" has a lot of RCW / WAC chapters, not all relevant to pharmacy. Is learning all that required, or only these chapters which are noted as "required" for a pharmacy license on the DOH's website: Pharmacist License Requirements Chapter 18.64 RCW Chapter 246-863 and 246-861 WAC Thanks in advance.
  16. are there any study groups via text or WhatsApp that I could possibly join in on for studying >? much appreciated
  17. I have passed the FPGEE exam (September 2015). I have never written a big review like this. The main purpose of this review is to share my honest opinion about the book, The APhA Complete Review for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination and explain the exam pattern to new test takers. I did my Pharmacy course from 1990 - 1994. After a long journey through rough roads, I decided to become a pharmacist in USA to serve as a bridge between physicians and patients (Not to be served but to serve :). If you have lost so many years after your Pharmacy course - Don't give up. I have carefully prepared for FPGEE by using APHA. Here I am briefing about the book and the exam pattern in addition to how to prepare and score well in this exam. The best part of this book: 1. This book is designed in such a way graduates from foreign nations can understand and follow. This book is organized as follows. First section – Basic Biomedical Sciences – 1-7 Chapters – You may expect 40 questions; Second section – Pharmaceutical Sciences – 8 – 16 – You may expect 75 questions; Third section – Chapters 17- 24 – Social, Behavioral and Administrative Pharmacy Sciences – You may expect 55 questions Finally, Clinical Sciences – Chapters 25 – 34 – You may expect 80 questions. In addition, it has the list of normal laboratory values to common drug interactions. As you all know the total no of questions is 250. 2. It is compiled with lots of easy points to be memorized and remembered. Each and every chapter has some practice questions. Study at least one chapter a day and take a test with honesty. Don’t practice speed-read or just scan this book. It may not work. Each and every line is important. I would prefer to take notes while studying and certainly it will help you while you are revising this book. 3. Spend 3-5 hours a day for at least 3 - 4 months. Try to understand and revise several times before your exam. 4. Answering multiple choice questions: While taking the exam don’t see the answer first. Read the question two times and recall the answer then search for the suitable answer from the choices. Eliminate the wrong answers and find the right choice. Furthermore, I have followed the elimination method also. In this review whatever I have followed I am sharing with everyone. Hope it helps you to study well and pass the exam. 5. Make a plan for your study – In your calendar write the things to be done from your syllabus (blue print) and stick on to the plan. 6. Don’t spend too much time in watching YouTube videos. Because by the end of the day you may not remember what chapter you have studied. The following website may be beneficial. start [TUSOM | Pharmwiki] 7. If you have questions about the FPGEE preparation and free consultation please send me an email. passfpgeeandtoefl@gmail.com I would strongly recommend this book as your primary study book. In addition, for Pharmacology part I have studied Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology and for the calculation part I have studied Pharmaceutical Calculations by Howard C. Ansel. Finally I have used quizlet also for revising biochemistry part. All the best Adam Abdulla

  19. Hi!! Does anybody has experience as pharmacy intern in Florida? ... I am making my search from Costa Rica, calling and sending emails, but without luck so far. I need some help (a lot!!) What's the best way to find a job as intern? Is it better in independent pharmacies, big chains, hospital? How long does the Board take to process the intern license? What's the average salary of an intern? I am planning to relocate to Florida in March, and I don't need sponsorship for visa. I will appreciate all your suggestions :):)
  20. Hi, I am new to this site/forum. I graduated this past May, and I am taking the NAPLEX September 28th. I have been using RxPrep to study and am basically almost through. However, if anyone has really old Prontopass Quickcards(I believe that's what the helpful cards with the silly sayings and photos are called)/ProntoPass anything that they would like to get rid of for a decent price, please let me know/contact me!! You don't even need to have the full set!! They don't have to be recent either; I'll take what I can get. I am mainly interested in methods to help me memorize topics I'm having trouble with. If only I were as inventive as the people who develop these cards. I'm as creative as a rock. Thank you!! Kindly, cp326

  23. Hello! I'm really glad that I've found this site. :D I just want to ask you guys if you can give me some sort of walkthrough as to what I should do if I want to work in Canada as a pharmacist. My friend and I already visited the PEBC website but we're still really confused as to what we should do first. Please help us :D Okay to give you a bit of a background, we are graduates of a 4 year BS Pharmacy in the Philippines and we already passed the Board Exams here. Thank you and God bless! ~
  24. Hi everyone! This is my third year of pharmacy pre reqs in college and I've been feeling pretty burnt out, although I'm not even sure that's the way to describe things. In the beginning of the term (my school's on a quarter system) I was ready and excited to finally move into more upper level work, because last year I took Org Chem (upper div) and loved it everything else has been General Chem, Principles of Bio, Intro to Stats, etc... until this year. I'm able to dive into all upper division courses, because they're all I have left and I'm stuck with Microbiology, Cell & Molec, and Anatomy & Physiology in the science department. Like I said in the beginning I was pumped. I also geared myself up for the fact that I'm admittedly a chemistry person and not exactly a bio fan - so I knew I'd need to put in more work for better grades. However here I am week 10, the week before finals and I'm gasping for air in all 3 classes (meaning a C would do at this point) I think part of it is my fault for taking on such a load because, as I'm realizing now, even though all together I have 12 credits these aren't small classes. Anyway I feel like I'm retreating back to my old habits of not studying and expecting great outcomes. This is something that has worked for me up until Organic Chemistry and Calculus. Those classes pushed me to become a person who actually studies and spends a lot of time in the library I was proud of that. However, today as I'm typing this it's like all of the hard work is unraveling. Now I'm finding any and every excuse to avoid studying, avoid the trek to the library, I even catch myself blocking out lectures. I would physically be there because I know I need to be, but I've gone from actually listening/processing the information to simply just hearing/only getting it in the moment and that doesn't help for exams. This has never happened to me before but I'm noticing it a lot now. Am I having some sort of mental shut down? Is this my brain telling me it's had enough? Has anyone ever experienced this before? I'd love to read your responses. Also, how did you overcome? Did you let yourself quit? I see it kind of as my head noticing a challenge and not liking said challenge therefore throwing a fit and trying to get me to give up... You know if I were to compare my mind to a stubborn child... But how do I push through, successfully? BTW: If your first thought is to ask, "are you sure you want to be a pharmacist" - I honestly believe with all my heart I do. I've worked in a pharmacy and I can't think of being anything/anywhere else professionally I can't wait to be able to do some of the things in there that I can't do right now because I don't have the Pharm D + license combination. I even have this saying where "I only know how much I want to be a pharmacist when I'm in a pharmacy working. It's at school, where I'm preparing my way to be a pharmacist, when I start exploring other options in my head." Let me quit rambling and actually post this thing. Thanks you guys.
  25. I am researching for my German girlfriend, who is a pharmacy student, currently in her 3rd semester at Freiburg University in Germany. The degree is 5 years long, including 1 year of internship before being officially licensed. We have read everything there is to read on the NABP, ECE, and State board websites, and we have sent dozens of emails. However, we still cannot figure out whether or not she will really be eligible for the FPGEE, and the work load is honestly too much to bear without being assured that the degree can transfer. It may be of note that the university also offers a bachelors program for pharmacy, and she is in the level above that. Are there any German graduates that can help, or anyone that may know of a way to get an early evaluation? Thanks (SUMMARY: German pharmacy grad post-2003 eligible for FPGEE?)
