Hi all, Econ RA Guide | A community guide for research assistants in economics We'd like to share with you a community guide for research assistants (RAs) in econ. Nearly 40 (and counting) current/former RAs contributed to and commented on the guide. It is meant to be a community resource with info for aspiring students in econ on what RA positions are and how they can potentially apply to them and succeed as an RA. We'd love to hear from you: is this helpful? Do you have any suggestions? How can we circulate it and reach more people who might be interested? We want to make it a living document and will update it as we get more comments. Thanks all!

I am working on a research project with some folks from a T10 and one of the co-authors said she knew people at T5 hiring RAs and would talk to them. How much of the RA app process is connection driven? (I'm thinking compared to the industry here) Thanks!

Hello all, I've been wondering where all of these RA jobs can be found? I checked NBER earlier today and only found 3 faculty looking for RAs posted... the odds seem very slim for someone looking to definitely find an RA job... are there other places to look? I imagine the Fed branches all take RAs, but do they have an official process to find and apply for RA jobs? Also, what are some of the think tanks, other than RAND and Brookings that actively recruit RAs? Thank you all...
