Hi all, This isn't really related to admissions into PhD but rather to research/data cleaning, as a person working as an RA. Is it weird to go back to refining the sample construction, once you've made much progress into the project? I've done this a few times so far -- I work with very extensive raw datasets with lots of variables, and when I find ways to drop/keep observations more accurately, I go back to sample construction, fix and run the codes again, and run the analyses again. The results I have are already very strong and robust that the takeaways and implications never change. I'm just worried that me doing this would make my professors frown upon me.

I heard that sometimes qualifying exams act as another screnning/filter. I know that it depends a lot on the school, but I was wondering if you could kindly share of some your experience. Also another related question: after going through the websites of many Strategy phd programs, it seems like qualifying exams exist only in the US? Would you say that this is true? Thanks for reading and time!

Introducing myself, I am Anisha, currently preparing for GRE and would appreciate related help.

What kind of value an undergrad can provide as an RA to a theorist? It seems like most of the typical data related tasks don't apply to theorists. Do theorists ever hire undergrad RAs, and if so, what do they do?

It's out of normal hiring cycle so doing a bit more effort to promote this job and hope you will take a look. Perfect for gearing up to apply for a PhD in econ related fields. A lot of other RAs, post docs, visitors around also doing research which makes for a good environment. Projects related to work on school choice and mechanism design in practice.
