  1. A good leader is characterized by their ability to motivate, generate adequate support, and pave the way to an idealistic situation for the entire group. The accomplishment of these attributes becomes problematic sans the respect of the followers. Lack of willingness of followers to carry out a leader's wishes and misjudgments formed due to incorrect or incomplete evaluation of a situation may lead to decisions that may prove fatal to the group. Sound moral judgment does not necessarily affirm good leadership qualities within an individual. It is the respect and support of followers that assert that a person possesses good leadership qualities. Without their support and belief, a leader loses his or her position over them. If the leader does not have his or her follower's respect, it becomes difficult for them to execute their plans and guide their followers. The so mentioned followers may not carry the will to carry out their leader's orders since they lack the motivation and faith needed. A good leader is characterized by their ability to motivate, generate adequate support, and pave the way to an idealistic situation for the entire group. The accomplishment of these attributes becomes problematic sans the respect of the followers. It may also be the case that the agenda and plan of action may not carry as much value as a leader may assess it to carry. Often lack of second opinions may lead to erroneous decisions that impact the group as a whole. It may be due to lack of experience needed for the situation or overlooking of certain nuances. If a leader loses their followers respect, it may point to the case that the leader is unable to reach the mark and must reevaluate their stances. Hence, for a leader to ignore the lack of respect from their followers may prove to be an invitation to misjudgments. Meanwhile, at times an unpopular yet necessary decision may call for its execution even when it lacks public support. At times, the followers are unable to assess the need for the action due probable to lack of experience or herd mentality. These situations call for the leader to overlook the respect aspect and move forward with their decision. In conclusion, a leader's job requires them to go against their follower's wishes when the situation calls for it. Loss of respect may be inevitable. Concluding this analysis, I feel that maintaining the respect for one's followers is vital for the security of a leader's position in the group.
  2. Question : Some young adults want independence from their parents as soon as possible.Other young adults prefer to live with their families for a longer time. Which of these situations do you think better? Answer : Humans are social beings who cannot live alone and family members are the one who supports people no matter what happens with anyone’s life. Personally, I believe that living with families for a long time has unmatched advantages which can give a head start to achieve ultimate success in life. I feel this way for two main reasons, which I will explore in the following essay. First of all, family members can give you emotional and mental support which you wouldn't find from anyone in your life. Human life is fraught with dangers and everyone has their ups and downs in life. My own experience is a compelling example of this. When i broke up with my girlfriend in my early twenties, I quickly fell into depression. I used to cry a lot, always thinking about suicide and gloomy thoughts. In sum, my emotional and mental state was self-destructing and detrimental for achieving any kinds of success in life. But nothing bad happened and I overcame fear and depression because my family was always there for me. They gave me emotional and mental support which I was in badly need of. Secondly, Living with family has a sweet perk of gaining financial support when needed. Specially, when people are in their young adults phase, taking big projects in hand or investing money in businesses is not uncommon. However, I business taking a loss for some time is not abnormal, in fact, it happens all the time. In this case, People who live with their family can borrow some money from the parents or other family members to keep their business going. For example, my big brother invested a fair sum of money in stock exchange in his twenties. Unfortunately, he had made some bad calls and lost a big chunk of that money. he immediately moved in to live with my parents to lessen some of his living costs and, also borrow some money from my dad to make up for the loss. In conclusion, I strongly believe that living with families for a longer time garner many unparalleled advantages compared to living alone. One reason for my argument is, It can decrease your living costs greatly and will grant you financial support. Another appealing reason is living with families actually prevent people to breakdown from emotional distress as there is always family members with them to support.
  3. I am pleased to be able to share the information that UC Santa Barbara has moved to a model of full financial support for PhD students in economics. This Fall's incoming class and last year's both received full support and we expect to provide full support this admission cycle. More information is available at UCSB Department of Economics, and the summary statement is The Department of Economics expects to offer a full financial package to all accepted PhD students covering a stipend, full tuition, and health insurance. The package is guaranteed for five years for students making satisfactory progress. Support is a combination of teaching assistantships and fellowship money. In addition, we have increased the size of our incoming class from approximately 13 to 18 and anticipate this larger size will continue in the current admission cycle.
