Hey everyone! I am applying for a master program that might potential help me transit into econ. I did psychology for my undergraduate but became more and more disenchanted about empirical studies in psych. I understand that it won't be possible for me to get into any prestigious econ program unless I can somehow prove my mathematical abilities with a Master degree. I am wondering if there is any Master program that is willing to take students with weak mathematical background but have strong Econ PhD outcome. I understand these two criteria are conflicting but any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I have been applying for a few applied stats program but I doubt that will be enough for a econ PhD. Type of Undergrad: 2 years in Top 10 University in China and 2 years in Top 15 in UK Undergrad GPA: 3.80/4.00 Type of Grad: BSc Psychology GRE: 169Q - 163V - 4.0W Math Courses: Calc Ⅰ,Ⅱ, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Introduction to Statistics, Regression Analysis, Structural Equation Model Computational Courses: C++, Matlab, R Research Experience: field study that estimates effects of different education intervention/polices on academic outcomes; Research Interests: Behav Econ, Labor Econ, Econometrics

I've been looking at the websites for UC Davis, UCSB, UCSD, and other UC schools, and I'm quite confused about funding. I am a US citizen and resident of another state. I understand that I should be going through the process to apply for California residency. I understand this may differ from school to school, but for example, for UC Davis & UCSB, am I correct that TAships just cover resident tuition (or do they cover non-resident fees) and provide stipend? At UC Davis, can you get both a Non-Resident Tuition Fellowship (to offset the cost of the non-resident fee) and a TAship? Obviously I'll be reaching out to the financial aid departments at whatever institutions I apply to, but information from students who have attended would be quite helpful.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew how to access the previous US News Rankings for economics graduate programs. I understand they do it about every four years or so, and if anyone knows, that would be great. I've done some searching around and understand that there might b some copywrite issues, but at least pointing me in the right direction would be swell. Cheers mates

Hey all! I see that you are prepping for GMAT. Anyway, I too have given my share of entrance tests and struggled with words, idioms and the like. Luckily, I was a convent school girl, and hence verbal ability was something that developed steadily through 12 years of schooling! But, anyway for those who are pretty new to analyzing grammatical aspects of the sentence, please be sure to UNDERSTAND the rules thoroughly. It may seem impossible to know all the grammar rules, but trust me, once you start understanding the application, it gets much better and easier. So, hang in there!
