Hi All, I have been offered a place for the EME MSc at LSE. I'm planning on deferring the offer until next year and plan to work/prepare before the course begins. I have an undergraduate degree from a Russel Group University with good marks but didn't take much Econometric Theory (although did take relatively difficult micro/macro sequences). I have searched the forum and seen that there have been threads discussing the programme, however, these seem to be slightly outdated. And so I wanted to ask what mathematics and statistics/econometrics would you recommend I look at to prepare for the course? My current background is perhaps the equivalent of an American sequence of Calc1-3, Linear Algebra, Econometrics (intermediate).

Hello everybody! I've been browsing the forum for quite a long time, but haven't been really on the active part until now. For many of you what I'm about to say will be the same old story, a problem that a lot of people have. But it's difficult to make up my mind and so I wanted to ask for your advice. I applied to 9 universities, was rejected by 8 of them that I wanted to go to. I was accepted by one safety school though. I really don't know what I should do at this point - go to the safety school or try hard and reapply in one or two years time. But if I'm to reapply, what should I do for the next couple of years? Thanks for all the advice.

According to gradcafe all of the programs I've applied to this year have now already accepted and/or reached out for interviews to applicants. I'm coming to terms with the prospect of yet another year of studying for and retaking the GRE, banal RA tasks, and having to do other frustrating jobs in order to keep up to pursue this dream. My best friend's dad is a psych prof and told me something once to the effect of: "I never felt like the smartest person in my cohort and I know of many people more talented than me who didn't make it or left and decided to do other things, but I was just the one who stayed and stuck around, and I've found myself here today." I wanted to ask members of this board who have triumphed to share their stories of perseverance and dedication, as a beacon to those of us who are discouraged and struggling with doubt. Maybe one day we'll be able to reciprocate the strength offered here to those who too later find themselves troubled in this arrangement.

However, if anyone has really old Prontopass Quickcards(I believe that's what the helpful cards with the silly sayings and photos are called)/ProntoPass anything that they would like to get rid of for a decent price, please let me know/contact me!! You don't even need to have the full set!! They don't have to be recent either; I'll take what I can get. I am mainly interested in methods to help me memorize topics I'm having trouble with. If only I were as inventive as the people who develop these cards. I'm as creative as a rock. Thank you!! Kindly, cp326
