heisazadeh
Unfortunately, his damaging attacks on the ramifications of the economic policy have been----by his wholehearted acceptance of that policy's underlying assumptions. (A) supplemented (B) undermined © wasted (D) diverted (E) redeemed I think diverted is true, however, the answer is undermined. Please, explain
Riyad Mohammad
If you choose diverted as the answer then you are saying that the author is currently attacking the underlying assumption. This does not make any sense. Undermined is the answer.
shadoWizard
why not wasted?
ragram
"Wasted" is using too much of something when it is in limited amount. Attacks are not wasted here, it was just "undermined" because of accepting the policy.

momomo
can anyone explain the answer? Unfortunately, his damaging attacks on the ramifications of the economic policy have been----by his wholehearted acceptance of that policy's underlying assumptions. The sentence begins with "unfortunately", hence you can tell that his actions, whatever they are, are unsuccessful. Hence the blank should be something like "weakened, rendered useless" And out of those options, undermined is the synonym of weakened.
