1) In rectangle ABCD, sides AD and BC have been divided in to segments of equal length as shown.

Col A Col B

The length of EF The length of EF

Answer is B

2) Among the 900 spectators at a football game , there was a total of x students from college C and a total of y students who

were not from college C

col A : the number of spectators at the game who were not students

1) In rectangle ABCD, sides AD and BC have been divided in to segments of equal length as shown.

The length of EF The length of GC

here the bases has been divided into equal lengths

GC = √GD^2+ CD^2

EF = √FX^2 + XE^2

since GD (4 segments) is > FX (3 segments), and CD = XE, then GC must be bigger than EF

col A : the number of spectators at the game who were not students

col B : 900-x-y

since the total is 900 and all students there = x+y, then the (not students) attending = 900 - x -y, so C
