mathemagician Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) These links are now non-operational due to changes in the url system here at urch. To get them to work, for profiles and results 2014 for example, after you click on it, go to the address bar and delete everything from the beginning of the address to the exclamation symbol, so you delete "http://www.www.urch.com/forums/!151427!" and then it should work. 2015 Roll Call Admission and Rejection Profiles and Results 2014 Roll Call Admission and Rejection Profiles and Results 2013 Roll Call - http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/142512-roll-call-2013-a.html Admissions and Rejections - http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/145610-admissions-rejections-fall-2013-a.html Sweat Thread - http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/145101-2013-application-sweat-thread.html Profiles and Results - http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/146668-profiles-results-2013-a.html Predictions Contest - http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/145818-predictions-contest-2013-a.html 2012 Roll call Application sweat Admissions and rejections Profiles and results 2011 Roll call Application sweat Admissions and rejections Profiles and results 2010 Roll call Profiles and results 2009 Roll call Admissions and rejections Profiles and results 2008 Profiles and results 2007 Profiles and results 2006 2005 Profiles and results That took a while... Humanomics Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I don't know if I or anyone else will have the energy to put it together, but a new econphd.net type of wiki/site which consolidates a lot of the information laid down in threads here would improve things a lot not just on the board, in taking care of the repeating of basic advice over and over again, but also potentially give people a much more comprehensive outlay of information. Phdeconomics.com would be ideal. Quote
Humanomics Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Phdeconomics.com would be ideal. Sure. I was saying that there used to be a site at econphd.net that had lots of information consolidated in one place. Phdeconomics.com is taken. On the wiki idea -- I just read a soc/networks paper on open source software, and against the idea that these are hippy paradises of egalitarianism -- contribution to projects follows a power law distribution just like any other hierarchy. That tells me even if a open-forum collaborative summary of www.urch.com information got made, it would require leadership. Quote
untitled Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 econwiki.com is hosted/run by an old member of this site (buckykatt). The wiki at econsource.org fell apart, but econphd.econwiki.com (which I run) still exists as a mirror of econphd.net. My work aggregating roll call, admissions and rejections, and profiles and results is still there, too. The 2010 results mathemagician posted links to some pages of results which were lost in an outage. As far as summaries of TM information, beyond the aggregate profiles and results, its tricky. There is a lot of information in the stickies different people have put together, and more will be added as people see the need. I should update econphd.econwiki.com with more up-to-date stuff, though, you are right. Let me know if you have any ideas. This winter I'll update my aggregate profiles, results, etc script to be able to handle the new GRE scores. Quote
Humanomics Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 It's tough to make critical suggestions to someone whose gone out of their way to do so much work, uncompensated. The profiles people post, even though standardized, are still extremely variable and granular. I wonder if there's a way to collapse the information into more efficient aggregates. I had trouble reading off trends from the formatting. Quote
untitled Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Please do, any criticism is much appreciated. I just made a thread soliciting comments, here. Quote
nontrad dreams Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) The admissions and rejections link for 2013 is incorrect (it is the 2013 profiles and results).
