Other Courses: Accounting (B)

Letters of Recommendation: 2 VERY strong letters from my 2 econ professors. I killed their classes.

Research Experience: A couple senior econometric research projects

SOP: I'd like to work in investment banking

Concerns: My econ grades are pretty good, my GRE scores should be MUCH better next time, and both my professors offered LORs without me even asking. My only real concerns are those 3 ugly C's under my math courses :/

Other: I'm aiming high but I only need one school to say yes.

Applying to: All for Msc. in econ: Warwick, Queen Mary, Exeter, Lancaster, Nottingham, Bristol, York, Kent, Surrey, Southampton. I know I'm aiming high but I'd just like someone to tell me I'm not off my rocker (:

I think you should be good to go for Nottingham :) Besides, in the first two weeks you'll have a pre-sessional maths/metrics course, which will help you assess whether you're better off in the MSc or Applied MSc stream (only affects first semester courses, and only prevents you from choosing one of the elective modules in semester 2, so in the end you can do the same stuff as the other the MSc guys).

Kent, Surrey and Southamption can't see why not, though Surrey's gotten better recently (according to league tables), Warwick may be a bit hard. Dont know much about Queen Mary, Bristol, or Lancaster. Exeter is a good department, getting better every year, not sure how selective.

Yeah I did do my masters there, so I'll always be biased in favour of Notts :)

But qiute frankly, faculty is friendly and accessible (for the most part; you always have the odd "less approachable" guys here and there). But by and large, good professors, especially in econometrics and behavioural economics. Those were the best.

In Nottingham you'll have two weeks at the beginning to choose which stream you want to specialise in, so thats enough time to look online (on Moodle - the uni's online portal) for past exams and see whether you think, with the help of the course, you could pass the modules for the straight MSc.

Economics & Econometrics at Notts is really hard and I would not advise it unless you really know your stuff.

As for your hances of being accepted, there were a few students with US degrees, only 1 american, but neither of them from the EU. And they did fare rather well, one is doing a phd at Mannheim, the other went back to her work.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info, always glad to help. I keep an excellent memory of Nottingham, and I'll always recommend it to anyone :)
