Erin
Hi, all. I've been talking to some students after they've received the results of the applications to the University of California, and some of them are saying that they really, really feel like part of the admissions decision is based on financial need. One student said something like "I have friends with lower stats than mine who got straight admits to UC San Diego or UC Berkeley, but I got waitlisted. Is it because I need financial aid?" I'm going to research this a bit and talk to more students, but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar. Edit: It appears that some of the UCs, including UC Berkeley, may be trying to admit more students according to their majors, which could explain why some people are getting straight admits while others are not.
