sweetfeet
What makes people say columbia posts were trolls? I know that the GC posts said they were notified via phone (which is different from previous years). But I thought maybe they were calling people because smaller cohort size. But I thought maybe they were calling people because smaller cohort size. if i remember right the post is like showing up at the same time, and not a single one gave any more information. Would be weird if all of them are too lazy to share. Also no waitlist is weird as well.
econhappy
I know at least one person who was accepted to Columbia via email around that time, no official letter.

Amberduck
Hope people who got first-round offers of Texas A&M can get better offers from other top schools since this is my desired program. Please decline the offer as long as you have some better choices😭Good luck every one this is really a tough year
macrolabor
Any insight on the NYU waitlists on GC? Are they real or trolls? I haven’t seen any recent acceptances on GC, so odd they would WL folks before sending acceptances.

I haven’t seen any recent acceptances on GC, so odd they would WL folks before sending acceptances. I know someone who got one. For those of us who haven't heard back, if we don't get accepted in the next few days (~3) then I think it's an implicit rejection.

Or are they only waitlisting to start? Maybe I just missed the acceptances on GC.
PhDreamer
I am one of the NYU waitlist, can confirm. The email is very nice and suggests the list is not too big. Let's hope it turns into a good news. Good luck to everybody and congrats to all accepted
basco
Do you know if they already sent out acceptances? Or are they only waitlisting to start? Maybe I just missed the acceptances on GC. I just received an acceptance from NYU and wrote on GC. The mail is very detailed in the offer, but nothing is said regarding the size of the class. Hope this helps. CookeCalamari
I also got wait-listed by NYU, the email said they gave "20 slots" out of 900 applications and the wait-list size is small. Tough year

Tough year Congrats to all who got into NYU. That’s insanely competitive.
tlgoa2
Anyone know anything about USC? There's only one acceptance on GC and no one else seems to have gotten anything.
T5mafia
Gear up people, it seems according to gradcafe Berkeley is sending out acceptances/rejections (Pretty interesting given it's 8PM Berkeley time). That's at least a week early.
mondub
OK looks like Wisconsin Boston University and NYU sent today - not a good sign for me. I'll see some of y'all again next year. Congratulations to everyone admitted!
JamesAlexM
Anyone got unfunded offer from UCL MRes? So confused about their policy to proceed to the PhD period and future fundings.
Wahasky
Congrats to all who got into NYU. That’s insanely competitive. The JHU waitlist said that 90% of applicants were rejected outright. I don't know what the normal year is and I'm sure JHU is much less competitive than NYU, but still it really hit me just how crazy tough this process is even under normal circumstances. Evonomist294
90% outright rejection is not possible . Even Princeton sent acceptances to 50 people (out of 800 applicants or so). I dont know how many were put on waitlist but wl + acceptances should already be close to 10%

I dont know how many were put on waitlist but wl + acceptances should already be close to 10% :hmm: 90% rejection means 10% were not rejected ie 10% of applicants received a waitlist or acceptance (70 waitlists + acceptances out of 700 applicants or whatever it was). You can believe it or not but that doesn't seem crazy to me.
Evonomist294
You said “outright rejection” It means rejection without any consideration. This means it was a very easy task for Princeton admissions committee: 90% are outright rejected, they only need to read the 10% of applications left carefully to split into wl and admit. SG7
I'm so confused, I thought Brown wasn't accepting apps at all this cycle? Why are there rejections on GC?
anonomist
I'm so confused, I thought Brown wasn't accepting apps at all this cycle? Why are there rejections on GC? They weren't initially, but decided last minute (I think in November?) to accept applications for a smaller cohort I believe.
