CookeCalamari
I was wondering what is the convention when it comes to deferring PhD program offers in economics? How often is it allowed and what is the process like? Thanks!
mondub
Not an insider, but my understanding is that if you defer funding is not guaranteed in the next cycle though the spot is saved. This may have changed in this new COVID world.
startz
There isn't a convention. Different schools do things differently. The process begins by asking the department if you can defer. Permission is not automatic. There are generally time limits on how long a deferral can be. Funding may or may not be held. And yes, things may be different because of Covid.
