Hi guys.

Need a little help out here. I intend to apply in a PhD course in Economics in the 2022 cycle.

My profile:

1) Undergrad: A fairly decent private university (BA. Hons in Economics. Major- Eco, Minor-Finance) 8.11/10

2) Master's in Economics from a Government college : 8.3/10

3) Past experience:  Visiting faculty for Microeconomics and Econometrics - for Undergrad students (20 days in total)

4) Research Associate under a Government project. Position was for 2 months

5) Academic Associate in Economics at IIM-A for 1 year

6) Research Assistant in Marketing Department under 2 projects at IIM-A (1 year)

LORs: 2 Profs from IIM-A and 1 Prof with whom I did the Government Project

What will be my chances of acceptance for PhD in Economics? If any. If yes, which colleges should I be accepting a positive response from?

IIM-A has a good reputation and the fact that you have worked there as a RA is definitely quite useful for your PhD application. On the other hand a University which is top 100 of India is probably pretty much unknown in Europe and the US and they will be a huge drawback when it comes to your PhD application. So I don't know where you plan to do your PhD (USA, Europe, Asia) and what you want to do after it, but I think that the chances for you to get into the top 20 of either Europe or USA are very low. However there are of course many other decent PhD-programs which are much less selective than the top ones and where I think you have a good chance to get in.
