Latino_in_Economics Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) Hey! In the last few years, the "Sweat Thread" had already been created by this time, so I am launching it now. Wishing good luck to everyone! Edited January 4, 2024 by Latino_in_Economics 2 Quote
LaborEconGuy Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Hey guys! I was wondering how many applications did you all submit this year. I went with 18, now I am feeling I should have submitted more! Quote
H157 Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Lol I went with 17 too! Reading past profiles of people who got in, feeling extremely anxious now that should have applied more Quote

I did not receive an offer email and my portal status is still "Under Review". Curious if anyone has actually been accepted yet. Quote
jlb89 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 (edited) Are there usually changes to applicants portals when universities reach decisions? Edited January 16, 2024 by jlb89 Quote
H157 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Sometimes there are, but they would tell you to see if there are any changes. Did you see any changes? Quote
Latino_in_Economics Posted January 17, 2024 Author Posted January 17, 2024 Any updates from this starting week? A friend from my office got Kellogg Finance interview. Quote
ColdWinter Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 I feel this year has been quieter than previous years. Hopefully everything spices up soon. Quote
ColdWinter Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Stanford is most likely fake. Any info on HBS Buss Econ? Quote
Hgao Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Anyone know about the marketing PhD interview at Wharton? Someone post an interview invitation on Jan 17th. Is this true? Quote
financeperson Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Received a one-way interview from bc finance, does anyone know what kind of questions they typically ask? Quote
special_econ Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Just out of curiosity -- why is the sweat thread so quiet this year? I was looking forward to visiting and reading this thread frequently in this stressful period 🙂 Quote

I was looking forward to visiting and reading this thread frequently in this stressful period 🙂 It's early and there's not much to talk about yet. But this forum does seem to be slowly dying (fewer new threads, virtually no results in last year's results thread). It's sad. But on the bright side, this sweat thread already has 2,000 views, so people still seem to care about what other people may be hearing. Quote
InternationalApplicant Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Stanford's website says they release decisions in mid-January, does anyone know if it also said that last year when they actually released decisions in late February? Quote
sicko Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 wayback machine says it didnt say that in 2020 but did in december 2023, if that helps any Quote

Hopefully things heat up soon. 6 hours ago, InternationalApplicant said: Stanford's website says they release decisions in mid-January, does anyone know if it also said that last year when they actually released decisions in late February? I was wondering the same thing. I even tried to use https://archive.org/web/, but they don't have the one from last year LOL 1 Quote
Erin Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Yes, it's very quiet. Especially compared to the heyday of the 2000s! I would like to make a run at reviving things over here; at this stage of my career, it'll be a labor of love. Well, it's actually always been that. But I'd really like to put in a few features to see where things go. 3 Quote
startz Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Things have indeed been quiet here, which is a real loss for applicants. But let me mention that if you compare to the economics section of theGradCafe, it's still vastly busier here. 1 Quote
sicko Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Looks like the first round berkeley rejections are coming out… good luck everyone! Quote
frsttrack Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Can anyone confirm the Berkeley rejects on GradCafe? 2 Quote

I am sure people's willingness to share their thoughts on applications hasn't changed, so I wonder where people went. EJMR is a whole different beast, gradcafe forum is even quieter, and reddit doesn't seem to have a similar community (r/academiceconomics is close, but I feel it's too broad). Quote
