Anyone with a UCLA offer willing to share what they got in terms of funding?

I got offered 21k first year and 50% TA after that - was a bit surprised at how low it was in the first year and was wondering if this is the standard

Does anyone have updates on the Rotman Econ & Policy PhD?

I got the exact same offer. They also waved baseline tuition but it wasn't very clear whether I would have to pay the non-resident tuition fee (I don't live in California)

I queried about this and they updated the offer to waive it for five years.

If anyone else who hasn't yet heard from UCSD is curious, I emailed them for an update and received the following response (basically a soft rejection).

"Thank you for reaching out. We are fortunate to receive many qualified candidates, which makes our process extremely competitive. At this point in our process, the likelihood of an offer is low. We have communicated to all our candidates who have either been accepted for admission or are on our waitlist. Our candidates have a deadline of April 15th to accept or decline our offer. After this date, we will have more information on how we will proceed forward."

Wow. It's quite unethical to make people pay the application fee to just ghost them without letting them know of their application status.

This confirms my impression that American schools are basically releasing all acceptances first, then all waitlists, and finally once they have the cohort confirmed they release all rejections. How disrespectful.

Hi everyone,
I’m still waiting on a few programs (OSU, UC Davis, Purdue, .etc ). It seems that at least some applicants have already received acceptances/rejections, but I haven’t heard anything from them yet. At this point, do you think it is reasonable to send an email to ask about my application status? Or is it better to just wait a bit longer?
I’d also be curious to hear whether anyone else is in the same situation with these schools.

Congrats on the funded offer! Though $21k seems low for the UCs. To my (limited) knowledge, UCSB and UCSD are offering around $35k-$37k/year. Unsure about UCLA's typical funding package. Maybe you can ask others at the open house day.

To the best of my knowledge, the salary from your TA commitment is independent from the 21k funding?

21k is like fellowship, 50% TA serves as the extra salary. Not sure on the UCLA TA salary, but at UCSD 50% TA will pay you around $37k per year in AY 2024-2025 and maybe this can be of some reference.

I think the tricky part will be the tuition stuff, not sure whether tuition will be deducted from 21k+TA salary.

No, it seems as tho it's 21k fellowship in the first year but no TA. TA starts in second year onwards with no fellowship (about 40k).

Tuition is covered separately along with full health and dental.

Saw offer from UCL on both spreadsheet and GradCafe. Could anyone confirm this? If so, when did you received the notification?

Can confirm, I've received the official offer this morning.

I've seen a few others here who have also heard nothing from Wisconsin-Madison. I know their visit day is coming up soon as well (March 27th?). Does that mean we are likely rejected or waitlisted? A few of my friends received an official email letting them know they were rejected, but I received nothing. I was thinking of emailing them on Monday to ask about my application status since it still says "Under Program Review". What do you all think?

Not sure about other programs, but for OSU, you might be on the implicit waitlist if you have no news at this point.
