Hi Cartera, I have seen many of your posts in TestMagic and I am sure, you deserve above 700 , I suggest take tones of test make yourself indifferent to the testing condition, probably u got 2 much nervous or something didn't work out.

dont give up i am with U on the same boat

Thanks a lot Finsisher, Im still struggling to find out what went wrong. It could have been a bad day. So, let's try again.

The day before G day, I took 40 SCs from the cracked version of Gprep1 and failed 6 questions. After the exam, I got home and took a whole verbal set of Gprep1 and also only failed 6 questions and most of those questions were not repeated.

guys, i need some help:how do the 800 score tests compare to the real thing? i think the math is harder in 800 score tests than that in OG11. Also, i scored a 43 in Quant in the kaplan diagnostic, and i only got 6 wrong. isnt that too low? i got 3 wrong on the PR test, and scored a quant 50 (is that too high??). can someone please, please guide me about the math in GMAT? Are OG 11, GMAT prep and Power Prep enough to score a Q: 45 or above? Also, how do these score translate into the real thing?PPREP 1: 690GMAT PREP: 680PR: 720please help me!I'm very very scared about the math section. I've never scored below Q43...except on 800 score, where I seem to get 15 wrogn at one time!!thankyou

I just finished taking the GMAT. Here's how my scores compared to my practice test.

GMATPrep Practice Test #1

Quant - 49

Verbal - 47

Total score 770

GMAT actual test

Quant - 49

Verbal - 42

Total score 760

I did not do any studying or preparation between the practice test and the actual. I only took one practice test.

What I would change: On the practice test I monitored my time better than on the actual test. On the actual test I ran out of time on the Quatitative section and had to guess randomly on the last 5 questions. On the actual test verbal section I worked faster than I needed to, and completed the section with 6 minutes to spare.

Hope this helps others who are preparing for the GMAT!

Actual GMAT - 720(Q49, V40); AWA - 6

  • MGMAT practice test - 700 (Q43, V41)
  • Powerprep2 - 680 (q45,v38)
  • MGMAT test 3 - 680
  • Kaplan Cat 1 - 560 (q38, V30) - My advice is to avoid Kaplan. Saps your morale and some of the Verbal questions have bad/incorrect gramma
  • Kaplan Paper Test - 670 (Q48, V41)
  • 800 score verbal (1) - scaled score 44 (91st percentile)
  • MGMAT test 1 - (some repeats) - 720 (Q 47, V42)
  • GMAT Prep 1- 710 (Q47, V41)
  • GMAT Prep 2 - 730 (Q48, V41)

Just finished the GMAT; this board has been a great help to me, so I thought I'd contribute.

3/24/2010 Actual GMAT: 750 (Q48, V44)

Practice Exams (can't remember all the dates)

Mid-Feb GMATPrep1: 750

3/17/2010 Kaplan1: 580 (Q36, V35)

3/19/2010 MGMAT Free Test: 700 (Q44, V41)

3/21/2010 PR Gmat Free Test: 670 (Q40, V43)

3/23/2010 GMATPrep2: 750 (Q47, V47)

Overall, the GMATPrep tests are the best indicators of how well prepared you are. The Kaplan tests weren't very worthwhile in my opinion (the questions are structured differently from the GMAC questions). The Manhattan and Princeton Review tests were both great; neither of them scored me quite as high as I actually performed, but the questions were similar in structure to the actual exam questions, and they give you feedback on the questions you miss (so that you can figure out what you did wrong)--something the GMATPrep practice tests don't do.

I took the Veritas Prep class, which was pretty good (the books were great); they give you access to a whole slough of different exams, though, when you sign up for the class. In my opinion, the MGMAT and PR practice tests beat out the rest (except, of course, for the GMATPrep exams) by a long shot.

Evolution:

--------------------------------------

1 month to the test:

MGMAT CAT1 680 (Q 46, V 37)

KAPLAN CAT1 570 (Q 50, V 24)

MGMAT CAT2 680 (Q 48, V 34)

MGMAT CAT3 700 (Q 49, V 36)

KAPLAN CAT2 600 (Q 46, V 29)

MGMAT CAT4 680 (Q 48, V 34)

MGMAT CAT5 720 (Q 50, V 38)

PRINCETON CAT Demo 620 (Q 48, V 28) --> Took the test starting at 10 pm

MGMAT CAT6 700 (Q 51, V 35)

------------------------------------------------

One week to the test:

GMAT PREP1 680 (Q48, V 35)

KAPLAN CAT3 - (Q50) --> Bored of Kaplan --> Too harsh scoring on Verbal

------------------------------------------------

Two days before the test:

GMAT PREP2 680 (Q48, V 35)

------------------------------------------------

Actual test:

700 (Q 50, V 35)

Comments on CATs, Guides, etc.

- Manhattan CATs: Really recommendable. Tough quantitative questions and nice online tools for tracking performance. The best.

- Princeton Review: Quantitative part of the test had a similar difficulty to the Demo CAT available on the web.

- Kaplan: I bought Kaplan because the questions were supposed to be tougher, but they weren't. The questions in actual GMAT do not look like Kaplans.

- Official Guide: Only the last 30 exercises of each section.

- GMAT PREP: Last but not the least ... Before taking the GMAT I wondered ... Is GMAT Prep so close to the Actual GMAT? A: YES. It is really similar. If you can control your nerves or nothing strange happens you should perform similar in GMAT and in GMAT Prep. RECOMMENDATION: Leave this tests for the last weeks!

Bottom line

- As a reference, I am not a native speaker, neither studied undergrad at the US

- Gmat prep rocks

- AWA: Practice! I did not and missed time on both argument and issue essays

Thanks guys for all the help.

Great topic to share!!

Actual GMAT: 620 (Q38, V37)

Other (3 days before): 620 (Q48, V27)

GMAT Prep 2: 620

Manhattan: 620

GMAT Prep 1: 650

800score (4 test average): 550

I want to share 2 other things:

1. I had been performing low on the Verbal Section, so I decided to study hard before the test on it. I didnt study Math because I was doing great: Big Mistake!!! Never do that!! I actually improved so much on verbal, but at the cost of losing precious points on Math.

2. Always check what you did wrong on your practice tests, that's something I neglected!

Now, I have to start from the beginning to get the 700+ score I need.

MANHATTAN CAT3 : 590 43 29

MANHATTAN CAT4 : 660 46 34

MANHATTAN CAT5 : 630 45 32

MANHATTAN CAT6 : 640 47 31

GMATPREP1 : 670 47 35

Great forum, really interesting to see how much the offered tests differ in terms of the resulting scores... Here are my scores in chronological order:

05/15/2010: Kaplan Practice Test: 550 (Paper-based from the book)

05/27/2010: GMAC GMAT Prep 1: 640

06/03/2010: 800Score.org Test 1: 580

06/05/2010: Crack GMAT FREE Test: 595

06/06/2010: Manhattan GMAT FREE Test: 620

06/06/2010: GMAC GMAT Prep 2: 690

06/07/2010: ACTUAL GMAT: 700

I can totally support the statement that the original GMAT Prep Software with its tests is by far the best indicator for one`s actual performance. In terms of timing, I had serious problems with most of the other GMAT tests, but with the original one`s timing was never such a big issue for me.

Anyways, GOOD LUCK everybody who still needs to take the test. And believe me: It`s gonna be DONE one day! :-)

Best regards from Frankfurt, Germany...

I took the GMAT yesterday I was shocked to see my score. I had practiced very very hard. I had read through the posts on this forum. And worked through the problems.

Here are my scores of the exams I took

KAPLAN diagnostic 600

Took the classroom Kaplan course

Kaplan: CAT #1 -610, CAT #590, CAT 3 #590, CAT#4 - 630, CAT #5 - 650, CAT #6 - 620

Manhattan GMAT: CAT # 1 680, CAT #2 - 640, CAT #3 650

GMAT PREP #1 (4 Days before exam) - 660

GMAT PREP #2 (1 Day before exam) 670

ACTUAL GMAT - 580 (Q 39, V 31). Was not nervous, had a good night's sleep, but don't know what happened. Can anyone provide guidance? I hate to think that GMAT will crush my MBA dream and hopes.
