subragmat1 Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Hi All, I am new to this forum and I planning to appear for GMAT in the next three months. My quant is ok. Howerver, I would like to improve my English. I am very very bad in English. Eventhough I understand the parts of speech, I am having trouble in spotting the error. If I take three minutes to answer a question on Sentence Correction (i.e to on paper), then my hit ratio is around 70%. With in the time-limit on the computer, my hit ratio is less than 10% ( finding it diffcult to analyze the flaw). Any suggesions. Thanks subra Many people ask this, so I've started a thread for it. Please reply to this topic with your practice test scores. For example : Real GMAT: 710 (Q48, V40) PowerPrep: 590 (Q49, V23), 750 (Q50, V40) GMAT Paper Tests: 730 Kaplan: 690 Princeton Review: 700 -other- Thanks! I hope we get a lot of responses! Please post ONLY your scores here. If you have other questions, please post them in the right place. We will have to delete all off-topic posts. Thanks for helping! :) Quote

alive_zombie Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hey Guys, I joined this forum recently and have to so that the forum is asewome. I have my GMAT scheduled on 06/17/2005 , I want to know views of some of you on whether I should postpone my test date or not.To give you an insight, following are the scores I have achieved in various practice tests ( I am aiming for at least 700 in real GMAT) PP1 - 750 Kaplan GMAT CAT1- 590 KAPLAN GMAT CAT 2 - 680 KAPLAN GMAT CAT 3- 600 Princeton Review TEST 1- 650 I have heard that Princeton Review tests are the closest to actual GMAT test, considering that 650 is disappointing to me. Please let me know what do you guys think. zombie Quote
amitd Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hey Zombie, Don't be bothered by results of practice tests. As you can see for many guys, low practice test scores didn't make any difference. Just keep on doing your work. Quote

Amit_GMAT Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I took the GMAT last saturday and got a surprisingly low score - 630- Q47 V30. I prepared for GMAT for like 10-12 weeks (not regularly though, because of work travel etc.). My practice test scores were: PowerPrep-1 = 710 (before studying anything) Princeton-1 = 710 Princeton-2 = 730 Kaplan-1 = 630 Kaplan-2 = 620 Kaplan-3 = 640 Kaplan-4 = 620 Princeton-3 = 690 Princeton-4 = 670 PowerPrep-2 = 770(I knew all the questions, as I had finished OG). Based on these scores, I was expecting atleast 700+. I don't know what happened. It seemed like I was getting worse and worse in Verbal and I was really bad in the last 2-3 weeks of preparation. I could not focus on questions and found it very hard to concentrate and understand questions. The same happened on test day, it was as if I could not understand any question and it is weird as I was not bad at Verbal when I started studying for GMAT. I am aiming for top 10 schools and hence need a score atleast above 700. I have a few questions and would appreciate it if you guys give me your advice. 1) Do the top 10 schools take the average of the GMAT scores or do they take the most recent score. If my retake score is above 700, would my old 630 score hinder my admission chances. It is a real shameful score for top 10 school standard. 2) I would appreciate any advice on what all I should study, especially to brush up Verbal. I need to understand grammer in a much better way. I have already done OG, Princeton, Kaplan, so there won't be any new questions for me in those books. Also how long do you guys think I should study. Any personal experiences? Thanks Amit Quote
