just4susan Posted September 5, 2005 Share Posted September 5, 2005 ST 1: d Therefore, d could be 1.99 (here the tenths' digit of the dec. rep. of d equals 9), or d could be 1.89 or 1.70, etc. where tenths' digit is not equal to 9 ST 2: d > 2 - .05, or d > 1.95 combined with 1 d must be 1.96 or 1.97....1.99 where tenths' digit is equal to 9.
