The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare.

 

The archives of human existence would define choice as the entity that defines habitation here on earth.In Paradise it was the choice exercised by Adam in consuming the forbidden fruit that led to his expurgation...

 

It could be quite forcefully stated that the absence of choice is a conditional and constrained phenomenon , subject to constraints that not only dwell in the the realm of human emotions but extend beyond to events not in the grasp of human control.

 

Complex emotions like love and hate, greed and altruism hitched onto a fast moving train fuelled stochastically with impulse and premediation often lead to choosing not to make a choice. A person not being able to make a decision that would affect a loved one is indeed a classic example of not having a choice. A person manipulating situations to present himself no choice for various reasons is yet another example. This could be concluded to be a self imposed absence of choice, nevertheless it does fall on the periphery of the subject under discussion .

 

Events that are beyond human control definitely confer no available choice. People who were on the beach when tidal waves struck were not given the option of life; yet it could be argued that it was their choice to go to the beach. However if that line of reasoning were to be followed, then every action and decision is indeed a consequence and somewhere along resonable limits of retrace there would be a decision fuelled by some choice.Having to write an issue based essay is not subject to choice (for those who want a score atleast!) yet within those fences there is the choice of a topic.

 

We do not choose where we come from, we do not choose where we eventually go, yet as we proceed to define individual fabric spun by a complex web of choice and decision, it is only on very, very rare occasions when the needle pricks that choice cannot be traced satisfactorily.
