In the country I am from most entrances are decided on the basis of entrance exams as opposed to past academic qualifications. I have to decide between a good institution with ok placements in most top U.S. Ph.D. programmes which I got into this year and a much better institution with very good placements that I am sure I can secure admission into in another year (just missed the cut offs this time).
