ndcruz
Banning cigarette advertisements in the mass media will not reduce the number of young people who smoke. They know that cigarettes exist and they know how to get them. They do not need the advertisements to supply that information. The above argument would be most weakened if which of the following were true? (A) Seeing or hearing an advertisement for a product tends to increase people’s desire for that product. (B) Banning cigarette advertisements in the mass media will cause an increase in advertisements in places where cigarettes are sold. © Advertisements in the mass media have been an exceedingly large part of the expenditures of the tobacco companies. (D) Those who oppose cigarette use have advertised against it in the mass media ever since cigarettes were found to be harmful. (E) Older people tend to be less influenced by mass media advertisements than younger people tend to be. OA: A
wawan_andrean
IMO D peoples who oppose the using of cigarettes make such persistent activity such as make advertisment through mass media to soaring the harmful of smoking intended to influence young people to reduce and stop smoking. OA please.
Rising_Sun
IMO E. Though A was also a contender but I feel thats a trap. The conclusion talks about 'Mass Media Advertisements' and 'Young Persons'.
itsme_sanket
yeah rising sun D cannot be option for sure ...it is between A and E .......but i got attracted to word "younger".....so i choose E ....what is OA?
GMAT08
IMO... A. The passage isn't about Young vs old.. its about how banning of mass media ads will not resolve the problem of smoking in young people. A clearly weakens this by saying people tend to get more tempted when they hear or see ads about a product. So, banning mass media ads would eliminate that desire. What's the OA.. f00kie
A and E both work, but E is a subset of A, so pick the strongest one: A.
